Panpan

•Interesting premise
•Terrible translation
•Super fast-paced w/plot that's stripped thin
•No atmosphere or environment building
•Monotonous characters
•Flippant sci-fi elements
•Overall, painfully disappointing
•2.25/5

TobeyTheScavengerMonk Bummer. I love the movie. 7y
BiblioNyan @TobeyTheScavengerMonk The film basically fixes everything that's wrong with this book. Also, Mamoru Hosoda is a genius. The book, however, was a colossal disappointment. ☹️ 7y
Chelsibno One of those rare instances where the film adaptation is actually better than the book. 7y

BiblioNyan @WOCreads Thanks, Bina! It's good so far. Intriguing premise. 😊 7y
Utopiyll Oh woah I didn't even realise there was a book for this anime! Pleasantly surprised! 7y
BiblioNyan @Utopiyll Yep. The anime is an adaptation of the book, which was written in the 60s. 7y

Mehso-so

I swear I didn't intend to join @Liberty 's #HelloOctober #readathon. (No offence. It's just that I have loads of work to take care of this weekend.) But here I am, finishing another book. 😂

A short story about time-traveling school girl. The first half sounds nonsense to me but the second half is all science and star-crossed love. It's a quick interesting read but a bit ...jumpy. I'll definitely check out the movie version. Heard it's great. 😁

Sue I haven't read the book but the movie is great! 8y

Pickpick

I watched this movie a couple of years ago with my husband and loved it so much I tracked down the book. (Found it at Alibris!) The movie is loosely based on the book - it takes place after the events of the book, but the plot is similar. Teenage girl discovers she can time leap, add a couple of cute teenage boys and it's pure magic. 💥

RealLifeReading Oh! I saw that on the plane last month! It was really good! Didn't know that it's based on a book. Will have to check that out. Thanks! Also the director Mamoru Hosoda made this interesting looking anime movie Wolf Children. I've only seen the trailer but it looks really good! 8y
PNWBookseller85 @RealLifeReading Wolf Children is so good! Super angsty, but in the best possible way. 8y
pppooraikul Oh, I never knew there's a book! 8y
Alisnazzy LOVE this movie. Haven't read the novel, but I've seen the movie multiple times. It's Probably my favorite anime movies that's not a Studio Ghibli film ☺️ 8y
