This is what‘s bringing a magic, provocation and peace to my mornings.
This is a wonderful discussion about civil conversation, connection, community, and the uselessness of hate. Makes me want to think a lot more about hate vs. anger, which are of course very different yet often conflated these days, it feels like...any reading recommendations in that area? https://itunes.apple.com/us/podcast/on-being-with-krista-tippett/id150892556?mt=...
I‘ve been looking forward to this one for a while.
A nourishing read that stretched me emotionally, intellectually, and—yes—spiritually, and I️ don‘t consider myself a spiritual person. I️ found it challenging to read at times, but matters of wisdom and inquiry and goodness demand focus and attention. This is a book that is good for the planet. 💛
“Great leaps, however exhilarating, are hard on mortal creatures.”
I absolutely love On Being, which is Krista Tippets podcast, so was excited for this. I think ultimately I prefer listening than reading, as much of the book seems to be transcripts of interviews. Still, I found a stack of stuff to bookmark, photograph, and underline. ⭐️⭐️⭐️
New book + a new coffee shop = a perfect end to the weekend
I picked this up yesterday for #independentbookstore day. I love Krista Tippett's podcast On Being and am looking forward to reading her thoughts on the mystery and art of living. 😍📚
I can disagree with your opinion, it turns out, but I can‘t disagree with your experience. And once I have a sense of your experience, you and I are in relationship, acknowledging the complexity in each other‘s position, listening less guardedly. The difference in our opinions will probably remain intact, but it no longer defines what is possible between us.
Times like these call for more poetry. Oh how I wish everyone in 'western civilization' would take just 8 minutes out of their day, listen to this, and just remind themselves of how the only things that can always overcome a divide is words. Because if we want to know each other, we can. #nobannowalllove4all

I love listening to "On Being," when I have the focus to really take it in. I've wanted to read this book since it first came out. Really hope to get to it this year. Feeling the need for wisdom and thoughtfulness. #funfridayphoto
Thank you, @Suet624 and @Christine for recommending this! You were right, it is truly empowering, wonderful, and enriching - let alone her voice being worth the listen! I'll male this part of my daily routine 😶
I loved this. Not sure what the print version would be like, but the audio was really lovely, like a thematically organized greatest hits of the On Being(/Speaking of Faith) radio show/podcast, featuring Krista's own contemplations interwoven with clips of many of her best guests (scientists, activists, artists, spiritual thinkers, etc.). Like her show, I found this to be intellectually engaging and so uplifting, full of wisdom and hope.
When I receive this newsletter in the mail my heart skips a beat. Love, love, love
Fans of Krista Tippett's podcast 'On Being' will no doubt love this book. The audiobook uses pieces of studio and live interviews in addition to the author's personal narrative and musing. I appreciated many of the subjects interviewed, and the introduction to their work, however Tippett as an individual did not move me, and I did not find her writing very compelling.
Opening conversational spaces, improving discourse, is a huge theme in the book; arguably the foundation of "becoming wise." Tippett certainly opens these spaces in this book by sharing a wonderful collection of interviews from her NPR radio show "On Being." Listening to these interviews was my favorite part of the audiobook. When Tippett was narrating alone, she tended to speak so quickly that it could be difficult to absorb her weighty points.
"Spiritual humility...is about approaching everything and everyone else with a readiness to see goodness and be surprised."
"Fundamentalism is a reaction to progress."
Krista is the host of one of my favorite podcast. However even though she narrates the audio book I could not get into it. There was too much of guest from her program and not enough about herself and her struggle to become wise
"I can disagree with your opinions, it turns out, but I can't disagree with your experience." Always thankful for Krista Tippett and her ability to distill such incredible thoughts into elegant prose and lessons.
