Boring and infocused
This is a great bit of gothic horror. Very Wicker Man. A fascinating story of superstition, primal fear, misogyny and misuse of power.
Stuck in work on Christmas eve so reading a gothic horror where everyone dies horribly. Feliz navidad.
YAAAAAASS our local pub's got the festive Plum Pudding beer back on. Note suitably festive gothic horror reading. #BooksAndBooze
Who has a hot take on either of these massive doorstops? They have been sitting on my end table for a while. I doubled them because I haven‘t yet got the knack of keeping Litsy from chopping my photos off on the left and right. #bookrec #tbr
This is a historical fiction novel set in 14th c. England: The village of Ulewich is the setting for this tale of superstition and hardship. Pagan beliefs war with a struggling Roman Catholic Church and a beguinage (a devotional community of female laity) as floods, cattle murrain, and disease hit the community. There‘s a *touch* of the paranormal but it works!
High page count but fast read. Glossary at end. For fans of Oliver Pötzsch

🥂Dedicating this year‘s reading to the letter, “M!” I have about 50-6O books in the stax that I want to read/re-read whose authors‘ last names begin with “M.” This is the first stack.
🥂I love reading narrative NF history & historical fiction, except when they‘re set during the US Civil War
🥂LOL, yes! White wine, dark stouts, bourbon, vodka, and Scotch. And I never say, “No” to Champagne!
🥂I have brown eyes

Just started this 2009 backlist title about a vigilante group in the 14th century, the beguinage in the village, and the aristocracy that rules the village as well...
Years ago at work, I scored an ARC of ‘The Owl Killers‘ but didn‘t get around to reading it before it was published, so when the e-book edition popped up on sale, I grabbed it! Sadly, the design elements (by Simon M. Sullivan) didn‘t make it to the digital format.

#ForReasonsUnknown, every copy of this has gone missing from Oldham libraries (it's listed as available at three). Can't help wondering how if Chaddy jnr had something to do with it.... #TuneIntoNovember @Cinfhen @Robothugs #OwlsOfLitsy
Traded PEOPLE OF THE BOOK for this. Love the serendipity of a LFL!
