I never served in the armed forces but I have great respect for the good people that do. Admiral William McRaven is certainly one of those good people. It was encouraging to hear his heart for everyone around him and his drive for peace even in so much conflict. I am thankful for men and women like him that serve with integrity. Good book, good read.

#hiselderliness had a good couple of weeks, polishing off these books. Yesterdays was full of magazine style articles from the past which he loved. The Devils Teeth (about sharks) was excellent. How was Sea Stories? “You know I thought if you were big headed enough to write a book about yourself, the book would be crap, but it was actually very good”

There he goes nearly writing off the whole “memoir” genre 😂

Not my usual taste given my mixed feelings about the military (the sword and cover are from my dad; I was an AF brat), but I enjoyed this. McRaven does a good job of including engaging, interesting stories from his military life, from helping find a plane lost for over 30 years to planning the bin Laden raid. It never gets bogged down and the Hooyah is kept to a minimum (which I appreciate).

This is a collection of stories experienced during the life of Admiral William McRaven who spent 37 years as a Navy SEAL rising to the rank of Commander of all U.S. Special Forces. Inspirational and surprisingly down to earth. He was either actively involved or leading the major Special Operations missions over the past 30 years. Each story is a stand alone tale like a good sea story should be. A entertaining read. Signed copy.
