Klosterman dies a great job of analysing the cultural, technological and political shifts of the 1990s. For me, some parts were outstanding and others just so-so. Thats on me though - Im not versed enough on topics like baseball and Garth Brooks to get much out of those analyses!
Also having a slow time of reading as my dad is back in hospital and its 50/50 as to whether he will make it back out again. Just very old and frail ⬇️

Centique and not responding well to medical intervention. 😔 Its been very painful and distressing for him and making his dementia extremely bad. You really wouldnt wish his last couple of weeks on anyone. But he is a tough old guy so you never know 💕 1y

Reggie Paula, I‘m so sorry. Sending you and your Dad all my positive thoughts. My Tia Estella, the one that passed earlier this year. She had been suffering from dementia for the past 4,5 years. She stopped recognizing her daughters, they would find her down the street wandering. I can‘t even imagine what ya‘ll go through. I‘m sorry. 1y

He has made it out of hospital into the “hospital care” ward in his rest home but is sleeping fairly constantly at the moment. We have no idea what will happen really - his heart just keeps on keeping on and beating the odds. 💕 1y

My sister flew in this week as we thought we‘d better say what we need to say while he still has conscious periods and then he suddenly rallied and was able to sit in a chair yesterday 🙏 So thank you very much for your prayers! Such a rollercoaster of emotions it has been and continues to be. I really appreciate your love and support 💕 1y

Had to show you my Christmas flowers from my niece @Cinfhen - had to keep them in the bedroom with the door shut though as we have the two Kittens Who Can Not Be Trusted. 😂😂 I have already lost two pot plants to their wicked wiliness. Luckily they had won me over before they did it those dastardly rapscallions.

Centique @Cinfhen thank you! No His Elderliness is still in hospital. It‘s been nearly 2 weeks. Physically he should pull through, mentally he‘s in bad shape, a lot of cognitive decline. It‘s been tough but an extra sister has flown up 💕 and has given me a needed break. 2y

Centique @CarolynM thank you @CarolynM @Ruthiella @Cinfhen ♥️ he finally got out of hospital last night and is back in the rest home. He caught COVID in hospital but seems to be just a mild case thanks to the antivirals and they‘ll keep him isolated for a few more days. 2y

merelybookish @Centique Fortunately things are melting! The driveway was getting pretty narrow. I was thinking of you yesterday actually. My own #hiselderliness was saying he'd like to do one more big trip, ideally to New Zealand. And I thought, well maybe I'd get to meet Paula. 😀 Of course, he's 82 so we'll see. 3y

Granddad Remembers (But is he telling the truth?) | Terence Braverman

Merry Christmas from #hiselderliness and Mere Kirihimete from New Zealand. It was super hot and no breeze here, lunch of porchetta, steaks and salads out on the deck -His Elderliness ate a lot of potato chips, a Christmas mince pie, a Nanaimo slice and two chocolate eclairs (he said no to pavlova @Reggie 😂) he told a couple of stories and then napped in his chair. Still a character! Still wearing long sleeves and his favourite cap. 🧢🎄🎅
