High in the Andes, Dr. Henry Conklin discovers a 500-year-old mummy that should not be there. While deep in the South American jungle, Conklin's nephew, Sam, stumbles upon a remarkable site nestled between two towering peaks, a place hidden from human eyes for thousands of years. Ingenious traps have been laid to ensnare the careless and unsuspecting, and wealth beyond imagining could be the reward for those with the courage to face the terrible unknown. But where the perilous journey inward endsin the cold, shrouded heart of a breathtaking necropolissomething else is waiting for Sam Conklin and his exploratory party. A thing created by Man, yet not humanly possible. Something wondrous . . . something terrifying.

9/225 Another very good read from James Rollins which covers #Peru for #ReadingTheAmericas2023. @Librarybelle @BarbaraBB

An excavation at a site high in the Andes where a 500 year old mummy was found, leads the team to discover unknown creatures underground. Are they friendly or a threat to them and others?

Started a new audiobook for #ReadingTheAmericas2023 This book covers #Peru. Just been in neighbouring Ecuador so just bussed it over to Peru. James Rollins always writes a cracking book. @Librarybelle @BarbaraBB

I wanted to read a book by James Rollins for so long and then also in order please. Got this book at the biggest bookmarket of Europe, in the Netherlands in Deventer. Bought it and read immediately. This was fun, an adventure story. Reminded me of Indiana Jones. I didn't like the romance, I think it's unnecessary and bookfiller. Still a pick though.
TBR since August 7th. 2022; 438 pages.

With a name, he had become flesh and blood again. Someone with a history, a past, even a family. So much power in just a name.
