These 25 minutes between when I arrive for my covid screening at school & when in person students arrive for theirs has been crucial for my self care. It gives me a little time to breathe before we get started & I feel frantic all day long between teaching & sanitizing. Overall, I feel pretty safe but it takes a lot of mental & physical energy to remember all the protocols & tech pieces.
Another pick for #disasters. This one tells the story of the category 5 hurricane that slammed into Long Island and the New England coast without warning in 1938, and the devastation that it wrought. I grew up and still live in the area of impact and I remember hearing my grandparents talk about this storm. The author uses real accounts from survivors to tell the tale. Great read.

In my TBR pile. Unfortunately this topic is trending now. 🙁 Barbuda, Dominica, Puerto Rico, Florida, Houston, St. Maarten all wish this was not a recent trend. Harvey, Irma and Maria were too much.
