Considering I just saw something about a study that shows a significant number of teens think you can get HIV from handshakes and toilet seats and stuff, I‘m really glad this book exists and I hope it‘ll be great so I can recommend it to all those dodos. (Well, and to their garbage schools that apparently aren‘t teaching them any better.) #nowreading

The NYT blurb on the front described this book as “thrilling” which I feel like might be overselling it just a tad, but I assume it will at least be interesting! #nowreading

Excited to start this series! I read her Inheritance trilogy and while I really liked the first book, the second and third were both a bit of a slog for me. But I know this one is very highly regarded and has won a fuckton of awards, so I feel pretty confident it‘ll be a better overall reading experience. #nowreading

Some of the top shelves on Goodreads for this one are: realistic fiction; coming of age; latinx; and mental health. SIGN ME UP. #nowreading

WriterAtHeart I throughly enjoyed this novel! I hope you do as well! 1w

The Painted Drum: A Novel | Louise Erdrich

I‘ve read one other book by Louise Erdrich and liked it well enough, but it wasn‘t very memorable or striking. But this sounds like it could be more up my alley. I mean, the synopsis says that it “explores the often fraught relationship between mothers and daughters” and that‘s a major buzzword (buzzphrase?) for me. #nowreading

Tamra I generally haven‘t been a huge fan, but this one is one of my favorite books! (edited) 1w

My final selection for #nonfictionnovember — for the TRUE prompt, which I suppose could apply to any nonfiction (except James Frey‘s book & most of the crap put out by far right pundits), but I interpreted it as being the truth behind a story or an episode of history that has been largely unknown. This is about young women working in radium-dial factories who were essentially poisoned by the work, which the companies tried to cover up. #nowreading

rwmg I'm considering it as my choice for my bookclub next year 2w
alisonrose @rwmg it‘s really incredible! 2w

After filming my unboxing (it‘s pretty amateur, LOL, but you can watch it over on Instagram if you want! I‘m alisonrose711 over there) for the @owlcrate limited edition box for #thequeenofnothing I just couldn‘t wait to actually read the book, and I have a feeling I might just blow through the whole thing today. (Also, hi #booksnake! 🐍)

My next selection for #nonfictionnovember, for the DESIGN prompt. I have never and—unless they invent 1000% safe and painless teleportation—will never visit Paris (or.........anywhere else), but I‘ve always had such a strong affinity for it and everything else to do with France. Je t‘adore de loin, et je suis content d‘avoir des livres qui m‘aident rêver. (I probably made a few errors there. C‘est la vie!) ???? #nowreading

I wanted something fun and this definitely looks fun. This whole cover makes me smile. Hopefully the story inside will, too. #nowreading
