I‘m not too sure what I just read, but I kind of loved it - it was almost comforting. But very strange. And I‘m not sure I could actually tell you what happened.

A self-centred young journalist becomes convinced that her fate is stalking her. Or is she stalking her fate?

Translated from the Bengali by Arunava Sinha.

Finally, a book for #WITmonth, and another for #bookspinbingo. #BBRC #IndianAuthor #YeahBaby #Booked2020 #SetInIndiaSouthAsia

I loved this. It‘s the story of Homi, a woman who comes to self-knowledge, or self-destruction (I‘m not sure which - the ending is ambiguous and a little surreal). It‘s told from Homi‘s point of view but her friends & colleagues reveal the extent of her fall. The writing is lively & fresh, with an effortless feel and disarming frankness. Homi is a selfish, stubborn character grappling with her fate. Original, fun & thought-provoking.

Homi‘s mother went to my old school (but in Darjeeling)! 😅

‘There was no beginning, no end, only a train passing through an endless expanse. No artificial lights shone now – the world beyond was lit generously by the moon, its beams crystallised in pools of water in the fields, the light magnified a million times by the reflections.‘

Tilted Axis just released the cover for The Yogini, from the author of Panty. As it‘s about Fate (perhaps), I was obviously meant to post it!
