Ordinary People, Extraordinary Lives and Wholesome Stories.
I think now the title seems complete. A short stories collection by an amazing writer, woman, social worker and business person above all. Very relatable if you're a fellow Indian. I love that the stories have deep thoughts and feelings behind, yet are so simply penned down by the writer. Loved each and every story.

This book is split in half, the first telling the story of a Indian teen living in Illinois who gets pregnant, and the second is her daughter growing up with an adopted family that doesn‘t look like her. I found the first half of the book exciting and I felt eager to read it but the second fell short. As the daughter comes into her own with her culture, the author attempts to also teach the reader some fun facts about India. ⬇️

Zoe-h ⬆️ But it ended up feeling like I was reading one of those narratives on a state test for school. And at the end, the story is still only told from the daughter‘s perspective despite the fact it‘s an important time for both of them. Such a good premise but the book fell short. 4⭐️ 2y

The book elaborates the pathology of fake and staged encounters ,the circumstances under which these killings take place and the complicity of the state machinery. It narrates the reality of an Indian democratic state whose agents arbitrarily kidnap ,torture, rape and kill for personal benefit or gratification and are given immunity for doing so under laws like AFSPA.

My Rating : 5/5 stars
From european supremacist mind-set of colonial era trying to fragment India to cunning threats of 21st century lurking behind curtains of liberalism, this book has a Bonafide account of all of them, backed by credible references. An important book for not only every Indian but anyone from across the world to have an idea of how such forces operate and to what extent they can go.

This book about a group of nine year olds in India that are trying to play detective and find some missing children. The story is interesting but it's really hard to connected with the characters.

Just finished Rupi Kaur‘s latest poetry collection. Her poems are grouped into four sections: mind, heart, rest, awake. Another excellent collection and while I know she‘s “known” for her short pieces, I like the longer ones better. #bbrc #yeahbaby #indianauthor #bookspinbingo #wintergames2020 #teamreadnosedreindeer 16pts

The World of Nagaraj | R. K. Narayan

Pickpick

This book is about Nagaraj, a man who spends his time in observing the world to write a masterpiece but most of the time ends in day dreaming. The entry of his Nephew causes turbulence in his life, & the following dramatic events are narrated in a humours way. As usual book is set in #Malgudi. If you haven‘t read Malgudi days & other works of RKN then don‘t pick this book. Good for a light reading. 3🌟
