Meteorology
Meteorology | Steven Ackerman, John Knox
4 posts | 1 to read
Written for the undergraduate, non-majors course, the Third Edition engages students with real-world examples and a captivating narrative. It highlights how we observe the atmosphere and then uses those discoveries to explain atmospheric phenomena. Early chapters discuss the primary atmospheric variables involved in the formation of weather: pressure, temperature, moisture, clouds, and precipitation, and include practical information on weather maps and weather observation. The remainder of the book focuses on weather and climate topics such as the interaction between atmosphere and ocean, severe/extreme weather, and climate change.

Curious what type of weather all my fellow Littens are experiencing...

The Philadelphia area is experiencing crazy amounts of rain and a heatwave - not my favorite combination!

I definitely prefer the heat to the cold but I‘m ready for any day to have a temperature under 90!

cherinium Saint Louis is very similar to what you have. It is so muggy today that the air just feels thick and heavy. The severe thunderstorms that roll through just make it worse. Fortunately, I don't live close enough to one of the 3 rivers that surround the area to be affected by the flooding. 🔥🔥💧💧⚡⚡ 5y
TK421 In southern Ohio we had a lovely case of the triple 8s this morning. By 8am it was 80° with over 80% humidity. 😵 5y
TheAromaofBooks @TK421 - also in Ohio, and wasn't that fun weather?? We had some storms blow through last night so this morning is a little better! 5y
AmyK1 South Carolina is pretty warm-98 yesterday and 97 today. We could use some rain. Haven‘t had any in close to 2 weeks. 5y
