#Two4Tuesday
1. I bought my best friend a book for Valentines.
2. I've been addicted to "bully to lovers" books lately. Prior I tended to read a lot Paranormal Romance so that's a lot of Alpha male and Fated Mate troupes

@TheSpineView

TheSpineView ❤ Paranormal Romances! Thanks for playing! 2y

I liked this even though I was surprised it was more erotica than romance in my opinion, which I didn‘t realize when I started. New experience! Haha

First book finished for the #readathon

Finally starting this series. I tried the audiobook once but didn‘t like the narrator so going with ebook. I was turned on to this series by the Fated Mates podcast, which I‘ve avidly listened to for years. Think I‘ll finally read this and go back to the episodes that cover it! #romance #swoonathon

Linear These are my guilty pleasure. The story through them all is neat. And each couple have their own kinks and issues. I named my cat after one of the characters lol 2y
annahenke @Linear love it!! 2y

My Best friend is so lucky I love her becuase I would have dropped this if I wasn‘t buddy reading this series with her to help her distract herself from the world. Luckily she also is not a fan of this book in the series either. Im not here for a man who uses an object that can control a woman to his every demand, it made it just come off as very rapey, Yah not cool. Not cool at all.

Bailey and I were both a little grumbly so we decided to roast a chicken and get some fresh air. ❤️ I quit keeping time on #24B4Monday but this will be my second book finished shortly.

Apparently the author did major edits on this one something like ten years after its original release basically because values about consent had changed. There could not be enough editing to make this plot okay though. The dude literally has magical control of his 'fated mate's body and uses such against her consent in sexual situations. Y'all, I can't. I might not make it through these books.

ravenlee A friend once described older romance plots as “rape her until she likes it.” I toss most older romances because that holds true more often than not. 5y
everlocalwest @ravenlee Ugh, that does seem to be an unfortunately accurate assessment. Listening to Sarah Mclean talk about this book from a writer's perspective and she says character POV in these scenes is important because their interest (that the reader sees) implies consent but when they are actively saying no and arguing with themselves in their internal monologue and the sex is still happening... that's not consent no matter how hot dude is. 5y
LA1 Hmmmmmm...rape? They skim across getting there but they never just TOKE it. It‘s an internal monologue, I am sure if they outwardly said no all things would cease but that‘s just my opinion and I like the series so far. Kind of struggling on untouchable but anxious to get to the end to see how they work it out. Love the comment 👍🏽👍🏽 5y
everlocalwest @LA1 I wouldn't argue that the penetrative sex they have is rape (I still don't love the way that scene goes down though). But the stuff that happens early in the book is definitely not consensual. When Nikolai orders Myst to masterbate; she definitely doesn't want to do that and is forced to. Him forcing her to orgasm crosses this line too. I get that Cole was toeing a line here, but for this reader that stuff is over the line. 5y
LA1 @everlocalwest True, can‘t argue with that! 👌🏽 5y

No idea why I read this, but I borrowed it on audio on OverDrive. It was ok, and I liked Wroth but didn't love anything about this book.

I really like the world building and lore in this series, valkyries, vampires, shape shifters, demons and fey. The leads are strong, sexy and very lonely. Will be purchasing more books from this series.

Worst of Kresley's work. Don't do this to yourself. Just re-read Lothaire.
