#SweetJane brought to mind a character from Aussie soap Neighbours; “Plain Jane Superbrain” was in the show from 1986 to 1989, when I would join many others in a packed Bath University Student Union lounge at 1.30 each weekday to catch up on the latest goings-on in Ramsey Street.
Jane had a makeover to transform herself from dowdy brainbox to glamour-puss to win the heart of Mike. Feminism clearly wasn‘t a thing in 1980s Ramsey St...
