Poison
Poison | Chris Wooding

Perfect for fans of Neil Gaiman and Tim Burton, this is no ordinary fairy tale. When Poison's baby sister is stolen by phaeries, Poison sets off on an incredible and dangerous journey to get her sister back from the Phaerie Lord. But as Poison travels to the Realm of Phaerie, she discovers that her story - and her destiny - is not in her control, and that she will need all her wits about her to survive. A fantasy where the power of story maybe the only thing that will save you, and where imagination knows no bounds.

I‘ve had this book on my TBR (and in my personal library) for years. I‘ll read it one day.

#ReadingResolutions Day 18: Hardly imaginative, I know, given that the title of the novel is #Poison - I have yet to read this one but it sure looks creepy and nightmare-inducing.

Really enjoyed this quirky little faerie tale about a girl named Poison who sets out on a quest to retrieve her baby sister, who has been taken by the Phaerie Lord. Along the way she meets some interesting characters and ultimately learns more than she bargained for. Reminiscent of The Labyrinth in parts! And apparently been on my TBR shelf since 2007... 🤦🏻‍♀️

The great thing about reading fiction by Chris Wooding is that he likes to turn the world so that humans are no longer the dominant species, per se. Poison puts this aspect of Wooding's work in the foreground. A rich fairytale-esque world plays host to a unique and gripping story; I couldn't get enough.
