Cloudbound
Cloudbound | Fran Wilde
After the dust settles, the City of living bones begins to die, and more trouble brews beneath the clouds in this stirring companion to Fran Wilde's Updraft. When Kirit Densira left her home tower for the skies, she gave up many things: her beloved family, her known way of life, her dreams of flying as a trader for her tower, her dreams. Kirit set her City upside down, and fomented a massive rebellion at the Spire, to the good of the towers--but months later, everything has fallen to pieces. With the Towers in disarray, without a governing body or any defense against the dangers lurking in the clouds, daily life is full of terror and strife. Naton, Kirit's wing-brother, sets out to be a hero in his own way--sitting on the new Council to cast votes protecting Tower-born, and exploring lower tiers to find more materials to repair the struggling City. But what he finds down-tier is more secrets--and now Nat will have to decide who to trust, and how to trust himself without losing those he holds most dear, before a dangerous myth raises a surprisingly realistic threat to the crippled City.

For March 1, my #currentlyreading. Although there are aspects of the book that are a bit grating, I do like the unique direction the author seems to be going in the relationship sphere.

OK, the two MCs in this book need to get less self-righteous and judgey pronto, or we‘re going to have some problems...😠

Fran Wild is fantastic and this series is in a league of it's own! I don't t even know how to talk about this without spoilers! All I can say is, "Gah! I need to get my hands on Horizon, ASAP!"

The TorTeen Fall Fantasy reads box showed up last week and I am looking forward to diving into Updraft and Cloudbound! Has anyone read them? Do you recommend them?

lilredhen I have read Seriously Wicked. And yes. I do recommend it. It's a quirky ya, it's fun, it's a standalone that is well paced, and it's a great read. I loved it. 7y

Eeeeee so excited! I got this early at DragonCon but I have waited to read it until this week when it comes out so I can squee with everyone else! The sequel to UPDRAFT, I can take wing again into this unique "sky-fi" world that's written so poetically. Check out UPDRAFT if you haven't yet and catch up? It's beautiful stuff.

cmckinnon Very excited to read this one! 8y
JPrecht Just saw the excerpt in TOR twitter last night and remembered that Updraft had been in my list of books to pick up. Clearly I need to move it up the buy list! 8y
