Excellent follow up to Children of Blood and Bone. I have to admit that midway through I was thinking how is this ever going to finish well & then the end was unexpected. Umm, there‘s going to e another, rught?

Know My Name: A Memoir | Chanel Miller

This is a stunning book. Chanel Miller writes beautifully & heartbreakingly about being raped: it is all aftermath because she doesn‘t remember the event. I wanted to read this, I was afraid to read this but once I started I could not stop. If you can read it (i.e. won‘t be triggered). You should.

Having read this book & Forche‘s memoir of San Salvador continuously - I don‘t know if I am really seeing a similar dreamlike quality or possibly nightmarish quality to both books because of the juxtaposition or because it is really there. But both are excellent.

Breath of Fire | Amanda Bouchet
Pickpick

Just finished reading all three books of the Kingmaker Chronicles and really enjoyed them. They are adventure/fantasy/romance set in a world with Ancient Greek gods. It ended up ver satisfactorily but I could see room for further adventures for various characters. I have no idea if Bouchet has plans for that.

My December BOTM pick: it arrived today & I read it today. A very different take on what it means to live in a post-Apocalyptic world.

It‘s so much fun to read fantasy/adventures set in worlds with magic/beings based in non-Western traditions.

A novel about a 19th century woman adjusting to her new widowhood and uncovering family secrets. Enjoyed the central family & the way the story was told. Excited for more. I got this from Netgalley & it‘s definitely a winner.

I‘ve been hearing about this book for a while so when I saw it at the library I nabbed it. Loved it. Turns out I had NO idea at all about the long and interesting history of cephalopods. I didn‘t even know that some people keep octopus as pets, but that is impossible to do the same with squids. Recommended.
