I liked this cozy, historical mystery quite a bit. Good audiobook. Definitely interested in trying the second in the series.

Poppy and grilled cheese tomato sandwich for lunch. 🍞🧀🍅
The chain continues! I‘ve been having so much fun reading and challenging myself… can I do my whole April TBR like this? #thingsincommon
Eh, this one was just okay. It wasn‘t horrible and it wasn‘t mind blowingly amazing. I liked the audiobook and thought the mystery was interesting.
I‘m trying to work my way through different WWI and WWII mysteries with women solving the crimes. I‘ve recently added a few to my TBR and seeing which series I like best.
Started this last night, finished it tonight. What a witty, charming read. Poppy is a terrific character. It‘s the first in a series and I‘m captivated.
I believe this is my personal best at a #24b4monday! I finished with 6.75 hours.

A lovely historical cozy set in rural England during WWII. Poppy, with the assistance of her American Airman beau has to solve the mystery of why young women from her village are being murdered.
This is a good start to a new mystery series. I really liked the main character, Poppy, and her dog Bess, of course. I liked that Poppy had doubts about herself and her investigation, but was able to muster the confidence that she needed to move things forward. I will be keeping my eye out for the next book in this series.

This was an exceptionally annoying Monday, so when I got home I had a big glass of wine, bought myself a book on impulse from Better World Books, and tucked myself into bed with my current read.
In this story, the details of village life for residents of Little Buffenden during WWII were wonderful. The tensions that were felt, as well as the rationing of everyday goods, really painted a picture of what life would have been like. I liked Poppy‘s character very much but I wish more attention had been paid to the other characters. I will say that the mystery in this story was interesting, with a few red herrings thrown in for good measure.
I'm not usually one for mysteries, but being it's set during World War 2, I decided to give it a go. Glad I did! I loved the little village setting and the various characters that I think anyone who grew up in a small town could attach to someone they know. (Hopefully not the serial killer, though!) Really enjoyed it and definitely recommend!
