#12booksof2022 #September2022 @Andrew65

I learned so much about Louisa May Alcott in this tagged book- I recommend it if you are a fan. The Little Women book is mine from childhood.

Andrew65 Sounds perfect for any Louisa May Alcott fans. 1y
mom2bugnbee That version/cover of Little Women has always been my favorite. This was the one carried by my elementary school library & I devoured it multiple times. 🥹 1y
sarahbellum I also had that copy of Little Women growing up! 👧🏻 1y

Louisa believed in complete racial integration, which was considered quite radical at the time, even among abolitionists.

Morning coffee after walking. Wonder if I will see more hummingbirds while drinking from this cup?

Today I had the opportunity to visit several literary locations in Concord, Massachusetts. I started with a tour of Louisa May Alcott‘s Orchard House, walked through the authors ridge in Sleepy Hollow Cemetery, toured the Wayside, walked by Emerson‘s house, and then hiked to the site of Thoreau‘s cabin at Walden Pond. During part of the hike I listened to more of this biography. Overall, it was an amazing day!

I started listening to this biography again before my upcoming trip to Boston and a planned day in Concord. I‘ve long considered Louisa May Alcott one of my favorite authors and also find her life story interesting.

I listened for a while this morning while weed-eating under the fence for the cows. #BooksontheFarm

jewright I can‘t wait to see your pictures and hear all about it! 5y
Lynnsoprano You will love Concord! We went to Orchard House last summer, and also the Concord Museum, where the restoration of Emerson‘s library is. 5y
Daisey @jewright @Lynnsoprano I‘m so excited to be going! Orchard House is the top of my list, but I haven‘t for sure decided the order of other places in Concord with just a day to explore. 5y
Lynnsoprano @Daisey That‘s all we had, too. We had talked about getting to Walden Pond and the Emerson House, but we were trying to balance history interests, too. So did various parts of the Lexington and Concord battlefield trail. You just can‘t go wrong. It is such a beautiful area. Let me know if you‘re interested in info on a nearby historic B&B. 5y
Daisey @Lynnsoprano I‘m actually staying with a friend in Boston, so I‘ve got that part taken care of, and she has said the same about it just being a beautiful area. I‘d love to explore more of the history aspect as well, but I think this trip is going to have a mostly literary focus. Thanks so much for your comments. 5y

To go along with our #spirited readalong of The Abbot's Ghost I'm choosing books by and about Louisa May Alcott for today's nonfiction and fiction pairings. This is just a small selection, but shows some of the variety of her work.

If you've read other great biographies, I'd like to hear your recommendations.

Reviewsbylola The serial readalong has convinced me I need to read more from her. I am really enjoying it. 7y
Daisey @Reviewsbylola Glad to hear it!! 😀 It's making me want to reread some more again. 7y
