Tokyo Ghoul, Volume 2
Tokyo Ghoul, Volume 2 | Sui Ishida
7 posts | 38 read | 2 to read
Ghouls live among us, the same as normal people in every way except their craving for human flesh. Ken Kaneki is an ordinary college student until a violent encounter turns him into the first half-human half-ghoul hybrid. Trapped between two worlds, he must survive Ghoul turf wars, learn more about Ghoul society and master his new powers. Unable to discard his humanity but equally unable to suppress his Ghoul hunger, Ken finds salvation in the kindness of friendly Ghouls who teach him how to pass as human and eat flesh humanely. But recent upheavals in Ghoul society attract the police like wolves to prey, and they don t discriminate between conscientious and monstrous Ghouls."

Tokyo Ghoul is the first ever manga I‘ve read and I‘m loving them so far. The anime was so amazing, it‘s nice to start somewhere familiar!

Ken Kaneki is still trying to find balance between his human and ghoul halves. To complicate matters, Ghoul Investigators have arrived in the area and are killing ghouls indiscriminately. What will happen when the ghoul investigators get too close to home?

Tokyo Ghoul Volume #2 gets better and better. I absolutely loved and enjoyed this volume as well.

Although it was a slight dip in the story, I still enjoyed this volume! I like the characters, I like the pacing. My only true complaint is that the art is sometimes unclear; each ghoul‘s Kagune is very unnoticeable and that‘s a bit disappointing since in the anime they were so eerie and beautiful.

Still enjoyable and a fun and imaginative read!

ReadingOver50 Loved the show need to read the books 😄 2y
StellaDz @ReadingOver50 same! I am finding that, unlike other anime‘s I‘ve watched, a bit more was cut out of this manga. It‘s a little more fleshed out which is nice! 2y

Volume 2 still suffers from confusing and badly done action sequences, but adds an interesting element in the form of ghoul hunters. While I find the slow reveal of the ghoul world interesting, many of the characters are grating and dull.

I'm still really on the fence with this series. I'll give it one more volume to grab me, or to abandon it, whichever it may be.
