Here is my #Bookspin and #Doublespin for November. I picked up both for the little free library at our park earlier in the year, but I need to read them first, obviously. 😀

This was a decent ghost story for the season, but I went into not knowing it was a MG read, so I was hoping for a bit more. I loved the forgotten, segregated cemetery history and how Iris and Daniel worked to get the cemetery restored so that the graves and the people laying in them could get peace and acknowledgement.

Finished The Forgotten Girl (good, but definitely a MG feel to it) and started These Witches Don't Burn. Yesterday was one of my easiest days of the week, so I got a little more reading in (rounding up to 6 hours!)

Finished The Perfect Girlfriend (slow burn, an ending that will make people angry) and started The Forgotten Girl. I went to bed early again, because this has been the longest week ever at work. But now that it's Thursday I'm beginning to see the light! 81pts

One of my friends gave me this book ( thank you Sophia) We love this book. We read this together and we love India‘s books and Mary downing Hahn‘s books. Again thank you SOPHIA!!!
Cute and creepy middle school ghost story. Lead character is an 11 year old black girl who frequently feels left out and ignored. Set in NC. I‘m about 2/3 of the way in and can think of several little 6th grade girls who would love this book! Too bad I‘m not in the classroom with them to let them borrow it 😢 #quarantinesucks #missingmystudents
An abandoned graveyard. An angry ghost. A secret history that won‘t stay buried. A slightly sinister story about a young girl haunted by the ghost of a forgotten girl from a segregated graveyard. While the writing wasn‘t as engaging as i expected it to be, the historical and contemporary were woven together beautifully. And it was spooky!
So @ReadingRover gifted me this book I started reading it last night and just finished it.
The Forgotten Girl is far more than a ghost story; although Brown certainly excels at creating a creepy atmosphere. This story about sisterhood, standing out, and our hidden history of segregation is really one not to miss.
