I‘ve finished my May #DoubleSpin book.
I loved the Cerulean Sea duology. So when my nephew asked me if I‘d read book 1 in Klune‘s YA series, I happily agreed.
It‘s not on the same level as Cerulean but it still had great moments that made me feel the story. I laughed and I felt the characters‘ pain and sadness.
My nephew LOVED it btw. 🏳️‍🌈

Great idea, but poorly executed. Christine's husband has recently died, so she & her son decide to celebrate Christmas in the cabin that her husband had rented before he died. When they get there, things go bad in so many ways.
Warnings for a brutal pet death & for an ambiguous ending. Numerous parts of this book don't add up 🤷🏼‍♀️

I really enjoyed this book. The picture puzzles were intriguing & the twists compelling. I sped through this book. I would have finished it in one go if I didn‘t have to work. 😁 I hate to use the word “fun” because there are some really bleak moments in this book, but it WAS fun to read.
Didn‘t have the perfect green, and it was a lighter weight so I added an additional round, but I still like this #grannysquare for my #bookblanket #doublespin

The actual story finished in volume 3 and volume 4 is just extras, fan service extras. It's a bit whatever.

If these were extras added to volume 3 or available to read online then I'd be fine with it. I just don't think they are good enough to have their own (expensive) book.

Additionally, there is a trans slur in one of the stories. It was very distasteful.
