Making concrete poems would be a fun activity to do with kids!

A poetry book that describes (and makes) poems into “word paintings“. A good introduction to concrete poems!

I love the way that these poems are shaped in different ways. I love how it states that poems are like word paintings and I just overall think this is very unique!

I would love to use this poem book during a poetry unit to give students inspiration of how to write and show poems. Also it would be fun to read to students during the day

The poems in this collection are all concrete poems. The words of the poems come in different shapes and sizes. It shows children, and any reader, the different ways that poems can look. It has a variety of topics and lengths of poems as well.

I would use this book to introduce concrete poetry to students and inspire them to make their own concrete poems.

Such a fun book filled with concrete poems! Each poem is laid out in its own unique way to match the title and purpose of the poem. This would be a good way to introduce students to concrete poetry and how to create concrete poems.

Clare-Dragonfly I have the same post-it holder, too! It was a gift from my coworker and goes perfectly with my black cat pen. 8y

Concrete poetry! This poem is of course titled "Clock." This is a simple, cute book with some clever poems (My favorite is "Flight" about the Wright brothers.)

Riveted_Reader_Melissa That's really great! 8y
Suzze Love it! 8y

First reaction: I love concrete poems but, quite frankly, I was a bit disappointed by this collection. Whereas other books with examples I offer my students are full of winners, this one only has a handful of great ones. ⭐️⭐️

Second reaction: It's not so bad. ⭐️⭐️⭐️

Suzze I feel that poetry collections and cookbooks are similar. I may only find a few I like, but if those few are great it's all worthwhile. 8y

My daughter and I love poetry books. This one was on the new book shelf at the library. I might need to add it to my school library.
