Questionnaires are one of the principal research tools for discovering people's thoughts, experience, attitudes and orientations to future action. Social scientists and researchers have been using questionnaires systematically for about three quarters of a century, since market research, opinion polling and survey research became a feature in both US and UK society in the 1920s and 30s. This unrivalled collection provides the most complete resource of material about questionnaires. The first volume provides an introduction to the use of questionnaires. It examines the principles of question construction, considers different types of questionnaire, principles of social measurement and the relationship between expressed attitudes, and actual social behaviour. The second volume covers the main types of questionnaire and question construction. Included here is material on question order, question wording and response alternatives. The measurement of attitudes is examined. The third volume focuses on how to handle sensitive questons, problems of validity, the extent to which researchers succeed in measuring what they want to measure, and the relationship between the tools which they use and the underlying theoretical constructs. The fourth volume, on Surveys in the World, brings together the best material on memory and recall, truth-telling issues and how respondents comprehend basic questions. The advent of the computer programmed questionnaire is examined. The collection represents a distillation of the world's best material on questions and questionnaires in social surveys. Martin Bulmer is Professor of Sociology at the University of Surrey and co-director of its Institute of Social Research.

1. I finished 13 books.
2. I would say all 13 were on my TBR list.
3. Yes, three of my books were authors I hadn‘t read before.
4. My team! Everyone was so amazing and supportive. I also loved the weekend games where we interacted with the other teams and completed for points.

1. 100
2. 50, so I have doubled it and I still have a month to go!
3. Finding Father Christmas, plus the two Holiday books I got last year in a Litsy Stocking Swap that I didn‘t get to read.

#WinterGames #MerryReaders

StayCurious I‘m obsessed with Hallmark holiday movies! Be sure to play the bingo! 5y
AsYouWish @StayCurious I am still trying to figure out that Bingo Board. Do I mark off space when that happens in the movies? And can I check off more than 1 box per movie? Because I am pretty sure 1 movie could knock off half the board, haha! 5y

1: the reviews, the pictures, lots of things — I particularly enjoy the #bookfitnesschallenge
2: I do get annoyed with too many quotes from one book all in a row, but I scroll on by.
3: I can‘t think of anything.
4: Generally at least once a week; sometimes more.
5: readalongs and Readathons.
6: ability to sort and search TBRs.

ljuliel Thank you. It sounds as if the tbr list is an issue with lots of folks. Maybe the right person will see this so they can work on it. 5y
Texreader I absolutely agree with your number 6. There have been countless times I could‘ve used such a feature!! 5y
robinb Totally agree with number 6! More search options for TBR. It would be a tremendous help when looking to gift Litsy friends from their TBR. 5y

1) I love how nonjudgmental and friendly everyone is and I'm always finding out about great books I didn't know about.
2) can't think of anything!
3) I liked the idea someone else said, about do not own TBRs and owned TBRs.
4) I used to post a lot more than I have been recently. Trying to get back to posting more daily.
5) I love all of them, especially swaps and readathons.
6) I've always wished there was a messge system.

ljuliel Thank you for responding. Yes, the update in the tbr would be a great help. Maybe if we all try a bit harder to post, or maybe respond to someone else‘s post, it‘ll help get conversations going again. And it is very nice to be in a book group that doesn‘t frown on you if you like books they don‘t. That‘s one of the best parts of this place. 5y
Sharpeipup Messaging would be nice! 5y
