Made Things
Made Things | Adrian Tchaikovsky

Award-winning author Adrian Tchaikovsky's Made Things is dark fantasy tale of how the most unlikely characters may become the most heroic. Making friends has never been so important. Welcome to Fountains Parish--a cesspit of trade and crime, where ambition curls up to die and desperation grows on its cobbled streets like mold on week-old bread. Coppelia is a street thief, a trickster, a low-level con artist. But she has something other thieves don't... tiny puppet-like companions: some made of wood, some of metal. They don't entirely trust her, and she doesn't entirely understand them, but their partnership mostly works. After a surprising discovery shakes their world to the core, Coppelia and her friends must re-examine everything they thought they knew about their world, while attempting to save their city from a seemingly impossible new threat. 🎧 I really enjoyed this novella. It has promise for more that could be omnibus-bound in hard cover at some time!

Heist, living puppet hands & the start of a cool magical world. I hope it‘s expanded in another novella or two or maybe even a full length novel.

Nice start! Give us more!

Thank you so much for this recc @TobeyTheScavengerMonk - this cute novella brought me out of my reading slump and introduced me to a new author! I hope Tchaikovsky writes some more about these tiny street-smart living puppets and their rogue band of human friends. I could definitely read a whole series about them 😍

Cathythoughts Sounds good! I‘m loving the cover 👍🏻✨ 4y

A cool little novella about an underground society of marionettes in a world brimming with magic. Most humans have a touch of magic, and those with the most (or the money to buy enough trinkets to be convincing) rule over the rest. Entertaining with an honest ending.

What if the Borrowers were, like, total badasses?

In less than 200 pages, Adrian Tchaikovsky creates a magical Dickensian world where people have names like Auntie Countless and Lucas Maulhands, introduces us to a complex society of tiny golems, and delivers a cracking adventure.

There was a truly lovely #LGBTQ moment at the end as well.

Highly recommended and only $4 on Kindle.

TobeyTheScavengerMonk Also of note: This is the 11th novel I‘ve read by Tchaikovsky, and only the 2nd to NOT prominently feature spiders. Dude‘s branching out. #SummerOfShort3 book 2. 4y
TobeyTheScavengerMonk @Centique You should check this one out! 4y

A young puppeteer street thief and two homunculi form an uneasy partnership and ultimately work together to take on a convocation of mages. Such a fun little novella. The metal homunculi Arc in particular is a hoot.

Yesterday‘s new #bookmail!

Two of the ultra-prolific Tchaikovsky‘s books are likely to be on my “Favorites of the Year” list, so I‘m super stoked for this.

Aimeesue I ❤️Tchaikovsky. I even love spiders now. 😂 5y
