My haul from our local library book sale earlier this week.
For the first time, I noticed two guys with scanners, scanning every book at a rapid pace and bagging anything with a good resale value... So frustrating to watch 😠 but I still managed to snag some good ones (Including a brand new extra copy of Ghost Wall for @Reviewsbylola !)

saresmoore Great finds! 4y
vivastory Yeah, I've seen that before. I think they should be banned from library sales personally. They can empty out sections before other people have a chance to look. 4y
LauraBeth Nice haul! 4y

emilyhaldi I agree! @vivastory one of the librarians told me that they always come to the sales and she was very dismayed by it, but said since it's not illegal there's nothing they can do 🤷🏻‍♀️ 4y
vivastory That's too bad. Good find on the penguin middlemarch! 4y
Tamra I‘m glad you snagged a great stack! Have you read Lonesome Dove? (edited) 4y
ljuliel I‘ve been to sales like that where you can tell the person is a dealer, looking for books worth more money so they can sell them. Kinda ruins the fun for the plain old people who are buying them to read. (edited) 4y
Leftcoastzen Invasion of the scanner people.☹️I have plucked old first editions with no barcodes right in their midst since I actually know some things about books! 4y
Megabooks That is so annoying!! 4y
Leftcoastzen Larry McMurtry used to be a book scout, seeking books he could make some money on.He had to use his brain, no scanners back then!❤️❤️❤️ 4y
emilyhaldi No kidding?! @Leftcoastzen perhaps I can get on board with it if it's done using plain old brain power and no scanners 😆 4y
emilyhaldi @Tamra I have read it! But figured I could use an old vintage hard cover in addition to my paperback 😁 I have yet to read the rest of the series but they're on my list!! I loved LD ☺️ 4y
Reviewsbylola I agree, I would feel better about it if they weren‘t scanning the books and instead just using their own knowledge. 4y
MicheleinPhilly Ugh. I wish libraries would just ban the scanners from the sales. Load up on stuff for resale all you want, but use your noggin. AND STAY OUT OF MY WAY! 4y
LeahBergen The dealers can be so annoying and I always see these local guys scooping big armloads of newer titles. Just like @Leftcoastzen , I gloat when I find signed first editions and ugly old books that are worth $100-$200 each. Hmph to them. 4y
emilyhaldi @LeahBergen I‘m confident that you would be able to outsmart any book scanner out there with your book knowledge! And you‘re right, they didn‘t even seem to acknowledge the older books- it was all newer more mass titles that they were after. 4y
