PatriciaS This cute little story about a little dinky donkey really teaches rhyming words, word play, similarities in sounds, phonics, phonetics, great for literary and fluency exercises. This is a wonderfully quirky and fun story, and part of a series. Encouraging students to read the series to continue reading. 4y
Chaseb I love all these donkey books! I agree that they make for a fun read aloud with all the rhyming and word play! I think once a student reads one, they will definitely be encouraged to read the others! I‘ve done the same and bought them one by one on Amazon! Such great books! 4y
PatriciaS @Chaseb I love these too, read aloud are fun with this series. 4y
DrSpalding There are several donkey books that as you noted have not only educational value but truly bring pleasure to the strategy of read aloud! I love to hear that students are building their classroom library‘s with quality, fun books like this! Fostering the love of reading at the elementary level is vital to student success. Reading is a part of everything that we do in life! 4y

Wonky Donky has a child, it was a little girl...
Lots of silly word-play, incredibly fun to read. And it‘s dedicated to the Scottish Granny. It did make me laugh! But I‘m not sure I‘d buy it for a little one (gender stereotypes ahoy, with her beautiful eyelashes and painting her hoofs pink)

Just in case you‘re having a bad day, here is Scottish Granny trying to read the original Wonky Donkey: https://youtu.be/gbsZohEMn38

Craig Smith's follow up to the hilarious Wonky Donkey is another all-out winner! My daughter loves the kind of word play that is the signature style of these books & reading it aloud is an absolute joy. I challenge you not to laugh 😂😂😂 It's playful, quirky & is helping my 5 year old develop a love for language - qualities sometimes missing from her set reading books at school. Cute illustrations too.

Victoria_Clyne We've recently borrowed both books from a friend and my two little ones loved them m 5y

HEEHAW the Wonky Donkey had a daughter! This F sequel to The Wonky Donkey is hilarious! It is perfect for S because of its repetition and rhyming it helps teache students that reading is fun! The authors website https://www.craigsmith.co.nz/Kids-Section/ > includes music tracks to listen to to enhance the story. UDL 5.1 & 5.2 both can be implemented in this as you are using media to enhance understanding. #ucflae3414sp20

DrSpalding Is that the Wonky Donkey? If so it makes for an excellent storytelling… Just a thought.😄 5y
Rachelleleduc Esol 16- this website has an idea for the teacher to read the book and turn it into a song. Singing the book actually selves deeper into the idea that music helps students learn. They are able to retain words better and expressions allowing their language skills to enhance! 5y
