World Doesn't End
World Doesn't End | Charles Simic
5 posts | 4 read | 4 to read
In this collection, winner of the 1990 Pulitzer Prize, Charles Simic puns, pulls pranks. He can be jazzy and streetwise. Or cloak himself in antiquity. Simic has new eyes, and in these wonderful poems and poems-in-prose he lets the reader see through them.

Pickpick

I don't read a lot of poetry because it just doesn't resonate with me the way it does for other people. I read this collection of prose poetry because one of my #Storygraph reading challenges has a prompt for a book that won a Pulitzer the year I was born. These poems are interesting and unsettling, and you can feel a lot of war influence in them. #Poetry

Here is the cabinet referenced in my last post. When I went off to college, I brought this with me, and painted it in my favorite colors (blue and silver are still my faves) and covered it in quotes from my favorite books. A little pretentious, way too earnest, but I've never had the heart to get rid of it. #teenyears #oldtreasures

Jan. 7: Against Winter - I'm checking out Simic's poetry after one of my favourite authors gave him a nod as a creative influence. #LitsyPoetry365
