Pretty good debut. Enjoyed it, but I do prefer her second book Amelia Westlake. #loveozya

A sweet and warm hearted YA story with lots of believable characters and situations, even if the central situation stretched credibility a little. Not as funny as Amelia Westlake (Gough's most recent novel) but still a definite pick.

Second book I am #currentlyreading that isn‘t here on litsy. It doesn‘t come out until #aprilrelease2018 plus #hardiegrantegmont are a smaller publisher. Anyway, I loved The Flywheel so high expectations for this one #queerya #lgbtqia #loveozya #ameliawestlake I think it‘s a #crocus. Maybe?

I wanted to like this book so badly, but I was pulled out of the story in the very first chapter. Delilah's dad just left her alone to run his diner??? Her best friend Charlie is a stalker and everyone is cool with that??? Then be punched a stranger and I was out. Sorry, y'all.

"Get It Together, Delilah!" has everything one expects from this genre: parents who are not present, an amazing supportive cast of friends, and the traditional love story plot line: people like each other, they get together, life gets in the way, they are no longer together, they find their way back. All of this happens alongside a variety of subplots that make this a very satisfying read!

This has all the makings of a lovely lesbian novel, and it certainly has its moments. I was bogged down by Delilah's unrealistic life responsibilities, but I really enjoyed her friendship with the girl she likes. Always nice to have a lesbian protagonist in YA fiction. Full review at goo.gl/7YunGs.

PURE HAPPINESS.

When 17-year-old Delilah drops out of school to run her dad's cafe, she's barely keeping her head above water and crushing on the gorgeous flamenco dancer, Ross, next door. A rival corporate cafe threatens to put them out of business, and Delilah and her friends struggle to keep it open while Delilah struggles to keep her life together. Hilarious and full angst, with a terrific cast of characters! Definitely a new favorite!

This book is full of fantastic lines.

Delilah is hilarious and I love her.

I've been so excited to read Get It Together, Delilah for ages--it's been on my wishlist ever since I first learned about it from an Australian blogger at BEA last year (originally published as The Flywheel in Australia). Also, my kindle is full of queer YA ARCs so 2017 is shaping up nicely!

In no way a perfect book, but an entertaining read nonetheless.

My main issue with the book is that there is too much drama for the size of the book so nothing feels properly resolved because it felt so rushed.

I did love the characters though. Del is just so agro and sarcastic and all the good things! I felt like if there was a little less drama these characters could have had the time to be fleshed out a little more.

There were some charming aspects of this book, but it is overcrowded with plot and has a premise that doesn't feel realistic enough to hit home for me. Del's voice was charming-- no nonsense, confident in her sexuality, and yet, a little floundering in her teenage years.

Still, the premise of running a restaurant by herself for three months and the ensuing craziness (and resolution) didn't feel authentic.

Such a beautiful story!!! I liked the characters and how it was set in Sydney. The family dynamics were interesting and so were the friendships. A really beautiful story.
