This was a twisty mystery with a resolution I didn‘t expect at all. The story kept me turning pages! A lot of the main characters have secrets or truths that they aren‘t facing, which gave it some layers. I thought the author stretched a little to make the town quirky but those were small annoyances.

I don't generally read a lot of murder mysteries or police procedurals, but my mom recommended this and I enjoyed it far more than I expected to. I can't talk about the main reason I liked it without giving away major plot points, but I can say it was fast paced, with likeable characters, and a mystery that kept me guessing.

The kids and I are having dinner with my parents tonight and my mom handed me this when we got here saying, "I finished this the other day and you should read it." Then she sat down and opened the book she's currently reading. My dad is entertaining the kids, so don't mind if I do! I'm only a few chapters in, but it's compelling so far

Clare-Dragonfly That sounds like a fabulous visit! 1y

Okay. So much better than I thought it would be. It‘s not scary in the oh no serial killer and kids and dark. But if you don‘t like disappearing kids, not for you. I liked Shelby and how she got her name and how involved I got with her and her life and the people she was involved in.

Finished this up on a cold, wet afternoon. Fortunately, no deep, deep snow to deal with. First read on my #BookSpinBingo card. Even better that it‘s the #DoubleSpin book for this month.

I wasn't expecting to like this thanks to a bit of a Mary Sue protagonist, but the mystery ended up being compelling with a great winter setting.
