A powerful story about blindness from an award-winning author. When Emma Sasha Silver loses her eyesight in a nightmare accident, she must relearn everything from walking across the street to recognizing her own sisters to imagining colors. One of seven children, Emma used to be the invisible kid, but now it seems everyone is watching her. And just as she's about to start high school and try to recover her friendships and former life, one of her classmates is found dead in an apparent suicide. Fifteen and blind, Emma has to untangle what happened and why--in order to see for herself what makes life worth living. Unflinching in its portrayal of Emma's darkest days, yet full of hope and humor, Rachel DeWoskin's brilliant Blind is one of those rare books that utterly absorbs the reader into the life and experience of another.

I‘ve been having vision problems for a while now that requires surgery so I was interested in this book for that reason. I absolutely loved this story! It was so good, really grabbed my interest while educating. I learned so much and loved how seamless she transitioned Emma‘s language when she was describing rooms or people with colors. Highly recommend!!

After a terrible accident Emma loses her sight at 14. A year after she starts her sophomore year at her old school trying to navigate her new life without sight and being a teenager.

Dead classmate was not needed. I get the author was trying to connect Emma's blindness with it but it was poorly executed. Redundant paragraphs at times.

I did like how the author described how Emma "saw things. It was written poetically and beautiful.

DivineDiana So funny! I am one of seven and this never crossed my mind! 🤔😬😂 7y
Johanna414 Haha a friend who is also expecting and I just had a conversation about how awkward it is to tell coworkers and acquaintances you're pregnant. Like you're basically telling people you had a lot of sex until you made a baby... 7y
That-Bookish-Hiker @Johanna414 lol once you think about it it can be awkward. My husband and I agreed that it's weird you're told your whole adolescent life that sex is bad but once you get married everyone ask when you're having kids so they are basically asking how much sex your having which can be really uncomfortable lol. 7y
Johanna414 @That-Bookish-Hiker or how you're pretty much taught that "it only takes one time" and then when you actually want to get pregnant... not so much 7y

Blind follows the path of a teenage girl who has lost her sight in a horrific accident. No longer being able to see the world or herself brings Emma a whole new set of problems. There's times where you must set the book down and cry a bit, others where you let out that little huff of laughter. Blind is a book about learning how to live with change.

I seemed to cry at parts that had me crying for no logical reason. A story from hardship and about growth after a tragedy and growing up. Bust out your tissues for this one.
