2.5 ⭐️...maybe 3. I finally read the copy of this book that‘s been sitting on my shelves for years, now. Not what I was expecting...not a read I really enjoyed. The narrator was amusing, but I was left feeling underwhelmed. 🤷🏻‍♀️📖 #ontothenext #cantallbewinners

Starting my Friday night by reading in the bath with some muscle relaxing salts/powders to help with my joints.

I'm still pretty luke warm on this one 100 pages in. I'm hoping it picks up a bit soon.

Barnes is very good at creating interesting premises that evolve over the course of a novel into a modern, unique take on "otherworldly" and eldritch horror. A failing stage magician and his immortal bloodless assistant get caught up in intrigue that slowly morphs into an unnerving time for all. Squidapus thinks it's not as good as Domino Men, as Barnes still has trouble with satisfying endings, but the ride to get there is a delightful trip.

Meh. This was just not for me. It was, at least, a quick read.

I enjoyed this book. A strange and beguiling story with weird characters and a wonderful narrator.

Fantastic, dark Victorian tale.

#dnf. I should have liked this one and even now the cover tempts me. But nope, I just couldn't finish it.
