The Stoker and Holmes series is as culturally popular and compulsively readable as the Sherlock Holmes stories and Dracula were in the Victorian era.

Who would have thunk, a YA #Steampunk detective novel would garner 4 stars from this #stargrinch! This book was cheeky & silly but so fun. Mina Holmes ( niece of Sherlock) & Evaline Stoker (relative of Bram) race through Victorian London slaying the Undead, saving princesses and solving crimes. With imaginative settings, snarky dialogue, guest appearances and quick wit,I finished up second quarter of #booked2018 🎉 This is book 3 of the series!!

SleepyDragon That happened to me with Parable of the Sower. Overdrive didn't have it, but did have the sequel. I suggested it, though, and they eventually added it. 6y

This is almost a pick. It's really not a bad YA mystery series, overall. The descriptions of Mina's nose and how much stronger, faster, etc. Stoker is than the average person have slowed down. If you pick up a series in the middle I think it's reasonable to have missed some of the finer points. The odd plot ploy that seemed like it was just thrown in there has been resolved. I hope it stays that way.

I'm sad this series has ended. I definitely think it could have continued but it doesn't look like the author wanted it too. This book was published October 2015. In now going to slip into a book coma. My TBR list numbers almost 720 books and I don't know what to read next!
