Taaqtumi, by various authors (2019 🇨🇦)
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Premise: An anthology of horror stories from the Arctic
Review: This is an impressive collection of stories, especially considering the small population of the Canadian Arctic regions from which it drew its contributors. I really appreciated the varied threats, from the supernatural to the natural to the human and everything in between. Like any anthology, it‘s uneven, but overall I enjoyed this.

A collection of chilling stories that draw from ancient fears about monsters hiding and waiting in the darkness, be it in the wilderness or in the recesses of our own psyches, framed by the arctic landscape, where the icy frost of death is an ever-present reality. A nightmarish, and yet somewhat beautiful, set of stories: well written, well crafted and well frightening.

Taaqtumi - an Inuktitut word that means “in the dark“ - is a creepy collection of horror short stories by northern writers set in the arctic. I don't always love short story collections but this one was great. #scarathalonphotochallenge #dark #batbrigade @clwotick @StayCurious @CatsandBooks

Sufficiently creepy with snow and ice and monster stuff.

This has been a fun month, thanks for hosting and doing so much work @StayCurious @Clwojick !! ☠

What better combination could there be than the icy north and horror stories? This is a carefully assorted collection of different writers and their stories. The text differ, but often use similar topics, which makes reading the book even more interesting. Of course, I liked some stories more than others, but this doesn't change the fact that it is a good collection, that also allows us to glimpse into Inuti life.

look at this book Look at this Book LOOK AT THIS BOOK I can‘t stop running my fingers over the satiny finish and the raised letters. And that bird! This is not my normal genre, but I had to have this book!! Definitely not a nighttime read, for me. The first story scared the bejeebers out of me.
