Blood Territory
Blood Territory | Mark Whittaker

Red blood stains the scorching sand "down under" in this true crime thriller.
Less than 250,000 people live in the Northern Territory of Australia, an area more than twice the size of Texas. If one wants to escape from civilization, there’s no need to go far. But the heat can’t be outrun. Every year during October and November, the sweltering climate can drive people wild—they call it ‘suicide season,’ ‘mango madness’ or, simply, ‘the build-up.’ It’s during this burning heat that Jim O’Connell’s mummified and castrated body is found in a creek bed. But when a dubious plea deal buries the truth and puts Jim’s best mate, Philip Mather, behind bars for the crime, the victim’s parents seek to unravel it themselves to prove Philip’s innocence.
Follow journalist Mark Whittaker’s journey into the blistering heart of Northern Australia as allegations of police corruption and judicial racism emerge, and a shadowy figure known as The Vigilante lurks on the fringe of the investigation.
Please note: Blood Territory contains mature themes and graphic imagery. Discretion is advised.

This is an investigative podcast from Audible where the author seeks to find the truth of who killed Jimmy. The murder occurred in the Australian Northern Territory during the hottest season of the year. Jimmy‘s body was discovered in a creek bed, mummified, with his genitals removed. Phillip Mather, Jimmy‘s best friend, was convicted of the crime and served 11 years in prison.

I love true crime Audible Originals. This one's about the unsolved mystery of Jimmy O'Connell's possible murder in Australia's Northern Territory. The accent was a bit hard for me though.

This was pretty darn interesting. Still not sure the mystery is solved but definitely some exciting details and investigative reporting.

Finished this one! I loved it actually. I like how it ended and well like I had mentioned it was read like a true-crime podcast which I love! So great choice Audible!

Book 2 of 4 for my #BFC28 goal. Today I walked around the rest-stop area 2x in the sun (mostly so my legs don't fall off) but I am counting it as “getting outside“

Also doing really good with the meditation/mindfulness

wanderinglynn Way to go! 🙌🏻 5y
Chrissyreadit Wow!! What is your route? How long will it take? 5y
ElizaMarie @Chrissyreadit that's the route I have taken so far. I still have aways to go. About 12 more hours but I am gonna milk it into two days, today I didn't eat all day because day 1 I ate a bunch of junk and felt sick, today I tried to avoid that but then got super shaky and hypoglycemic. I might actually stop and try to eat outside or something instead.
