Team #BFC28 - @KristenDuck is hosting a challenge you might be interested in: #40Miles20Hours

Here‘s the deal: run, jog, walk, or hike 40 miles & listen to audiobooks as you go. Once you reach both 40 miles + 20 hours of reading logged, share your accomplishment! And share your journey along the way too!

The challenge starts tomorrow. 🎉

I‘m in! Who‘s with me? 🏃🏼‍♀️🎧

Open to everyone. Spread the word!
Remember we‘re all in this together!

julesG Cool idea! Listening for 20 hours shouldn't be a problem, but I fear that the miles will take me ages. 😜 4y

Dawnrod1970 Count me in! 4y
jenniferw88 I'm having to shield socan't really do the walking part, but could do the audio? 4y
Lesanne Is there a time limit? I walk pretty slow....😉 4y
wanderinglynn @julesG I‘m slow. Doesn‘t matter. It‘s all the journey. 😉 4y
wanderinglynn @jenniferw88 can you adapt the walking part & do some other indoors exercise? 4y
wanderinglynn @Dawnrod1970 awesome 🙌🏻 4y
wanderinglynn @Lesanne nope! No time limit. I‘m slow too. It might take me 40 days! 😉 4y
Laughterhp Ooh I think I could do this. It might take me a while to hit 40 miles though! 4y
squirrelbrain Thanks for tagging me - I saw this earlier and thought about joining.... I may just give it a go! 4y
wanderinglynn @Laughterhp me too! But it‘s a good goal. 👍🏻 4y
Meaw_catlady Woah!!! I may need to do this. I really need to get motivated to get outside and walk as much as possible my body is getting weak. Need more energy. 4y
wanderinglynn @squirrelbrain 👍🏻☺️ 4y
wanderinglynn @Meaw_catlady I was just planning a new walking program for myself for the same reason. It‘s good timing by @KristenDuck because this will give me more motivation. 👍🏻😀 4y
Chrissyreadit I will try... 4y
wanderinglynn @Chrissyreadit 🙌🏻 you can do it! 4y
AsYouWish This sounds awesome!!! I have lots of audiobooks downloaded right now. I think it may take me a while to get to 40 miles, but I am up for the challenge. 4y
wanderinglynn @AsYouWish 🙌🏻 awesome! 4y
mcipher Oooh, this sounds fun! Anyone have any good (free) audiobook recs? I try to get a walk in every day but I‘m not good at finding audiobooks. 4y
Lesanne @wanderinglynn Well in that case sign me up too! 4y
wanderinglynn @mcipher I use Libby to check out audiobooks from my library. 4y
mcipher @wanderinglynn I‘ll have to check that out - thanks! (And duh on my part -I forget about Libby!! 😹) 4y
CocoReads Could be fun but I‘m not an audiobooker plus the majority of my walking is at work so I‘m going to just cheer everyone else on! 4y
jenniferw88 @wanderinglynn i could do laps round the house, i suppose... 4y
wanderinglynn @CocoReads 👍🏻💚 4y
wanderinglynn @jenniferw88 👍🏻 you could do yoga or another activity. Here‘s a conversion chart: https://earlham.edu/media/3049229/activityconversionchart.pdf For example, 1 minute of yoga = 86 steps. 20 minutes * 86 = 1760. If a miles is approx. 2000 steps, then 20-30 minutes of yoga is approx. 1 mile. Vacuuming is 104 steps per minute. Maybe I should vacuum 40 miles! 😂 4y
Susanita I guess I need to wear my Fitbit again! 4y
Laughterhp Oh wait, is it okay if I‘m not part of BFC to participate in this? I‘m assuming it doesn‘t matter.. 4y
Dawnrod1970 So excited about this! I need to get moving more and this will motivate me 4y
wanderinglynn @Laughterhp No worries! This is not a BFC thing. This is hosted by @KristenDuck – I just thought that BFC folks would be interested. (edited) 4y
wanderinglynn @Susanita 😂 I sold mine. I‘m going to be tracking miles the old fashioned way. 🗺 + 📝 4y
GHABI4ROSES Okay, I am participating in BFCs, yet do not know for what BFC stands, lol. I have never done an Audio Book, but Lord knows, my life IS measured in MILES. Trying to see how I can modify to join... and THANK YOU🥰 4y
wanderinglynn @GHABI4ROSES BFC = book fitness challenge. But this #40miles20hours is not a BFC event. #40miles20hours is hosted by @KristenDuck – I just thought BFC folks would be interested in the challenge. And I‘m sure you could read physical or e-books and just track your time. 4y
KristenDuck @wanderinglynn thanks for spreading the word! 4y
TheAromaofBooks Thanks for the tip!! 4y
GHABI4ROSES I love that BFC stands for that, and thank you @KristenDuck and @wanderinglynn 🥰 4y
Jennifer3 I am in!!!!! 4y
Kelly_the_Bookish_Sidekick @mcipher If you're a Prime member they also have some of their prime reading books with narration. There were about 250 last time I checked & many were classics, but it's an option. 4y
RainyDayReading Sounds like fun! Too bad I don't listen to audiobooks-can never concentrate on them so I gave up trying years ago. Maybe next time! 4y
wanderinglynn @Rainydaywoman Od you want to do it, I‘m sure Kristen wouldn‘t care if you read physical books and track your time. 4y
mcipher @Kelly_the_Bookish_Sidekick Thanks! I tried Hoopla and found some short stories I‘m trying today 4y
ElizaMarie I want to start walking when the weather is better (and this fever goes away... its been a week) ... I might have to sit this one out --- I can do 20 hours of yoga (with my new space heater I feel comfortable enough to work on that) 4y
wanderinglynn @ElizaMarie there will be other challenges. Take care of you and I hope you feel better soon 💚 4y

#BFC28 has been so much fun! I feel like I have a lot of triumphs and am super proud of myself!

Goals:
1. 8 books: 15/8 - Crushed this goal!!!
2. Meditate/Mindfulness: 20/28 - Using the 10% Happier App and truly enjoying it
3. Reach out to people: 22/28
4. Yoga - I just stared a yoga regime and I am on Day 5
5. Organize/clean space for 15 min/day - 15/28 - I feel like I don't have enough to do this everyday (since I am not at home home)

Thank you @wanderinglynn for hosting #BFC28. This was my first time participating with low goals. Completed 7/6 books, did not journal as much as I wanted. I stared meditating for 10 minutes with the free Balance app for the last week. I plan to work on my journaling and meditation in the near future. And obviously, read 😅

wanderinglynn Way to go! 🙌🏻 You succeeded because BFC is about making progress. ☺️ 4y
Meaw_catlady Yay!!! Great job with the books and meditation! 💕💕 4y

I originally said I‘d read ten books. What was I thinking?!? I read five, and I‘m fine with that.
Also:
-ordered a new vacuum cleaner
-accomplished a “check the box” task at work after being in a do loop since October
-got refunds from #readingretreat and donated to local food bank
-finally figured out meaning of #bfc28 on the last day
OTOH I was supposed to get a haircut appointment today, but instead I‘m just getting shaggier and shaggier.

wanderinglynn Way to go 🙌🏻 Fantastic month! 4y

Team #BFC28 congrats! 🥳 We made it to day 28!

Share your accomplishments either in the comments below or your own post. And yes, everyone has an accomplishment 😀

I have meditated everyday & increased from 10 minutes to 15. And while I did not write everyday, I have written and I‘ve posted 10 blog posts on wanderinglynn.com! 🎉

So tell me what you accomplished & then treat yourself to some well-deserved (& much needed) self-care! 💜

jb72 You did great! 4y

Lesanne Thanks for organizing this, @wanderinglynn . I didn‘t exercise every day but I looked and found new ways to work out at home, which I‘ll definitely continue. 4y
wanderinglynn Thanks @jb72 ☺️ 4y
wanderinglynn @Lesanne way to go! 🙌🏻 4y
CocoReads I pretty much gave it up, except for reading. After the first week or so, I did manage to focus and finished a few books—I can‘t remember how many probably more than 4 but less than 10. Since I‘m an essential worker—I‘m calling that a success. 4y
Cupcake12 I‘ve actually got my reading mojo back, I finished a book in 3 sittings which is an achievement for me with 2 girls and home-schooling. I‘ve been enjoying fruity teas and mindful colouring. Eaten far too many Easter eggs though! 4y
rockpools Thanks for doing this Lynn - it‘s been helpful to have the push this month and I love that my fitbit pals are back (thanks @Hestapleton 😊) even if we‘re a little lower on steps than last summer! I‘ve been more consistent with workouts and they‘re becoming part of my routine 👍 4y
squirrelbrain I achieved everything I set out to do, even if it did cause me a teensy bit of stress sometimes but, what can I do, I‘m a list-ticket and a perfectionist. Maybe that should be next time‘s challenge for me; not to worry so much about achieving goals! Thanks for organising Lynn, I really loved it and I‘m definitely keeping up with the mindfulness and yoga 😘 4y
cobwebmoth I didn't finish any books, but I did write in my journal more days than not, and even though it wasn't part of my goals I started doing a weekly yoga and meditation practice. Thanks for organizing all of this! 4y
julesG Thank you for doing this, Lynn! I might not have managed to do all the things on my list of goal, but I made loosening my shoulders a priority in my daily yoga practice and the shoulders are better. Managed to read all the pledged books, although I had my doubts about it. 4y
wanderinglynn @CocoReads 💚 Bless you and thank you for all you do. You definitely need some self-care. 4y
wanderinglynn @Cupcake12 Yay 🙌🏻 Way to go! 4y
wanderinglynn @RachelO 💜 Yay! Way to go! 4y
wanderinglynn @squirrelbrain Way to go 🙌🏻 And take some time for self-care to de-stress. 💜 4y
wanderinglynn @cobwebmoth way to go 🙌🏻💜 4y
wanderinglynn @julesG awesome 🙌🏻 That‘s fantastic! 4y
UnRuLee I‘ve finished 9 books and only missed one day of meditation! 4y
wanderinglynn @UnRuLee way to go 🙌🏻 4y
GHABI4ROSES Thanks for hosting this! I accomplished most of my goals, but have the momentum to get it all locked down again💜💪🏾 4y
wanderinglynn @GHABI4ROSES awesome 🙌🏻 Way to go! 4y
ChasingOm I got much better about remembering to take my meds every day, made easier by having a more structured morning in general. It‘s really helped with all the uncertainty! 4y
Reecaspieces Thanks for hosting...I just did me 😂 4y
Bookwormjillk I can‘t believe how fast that month went given how long the days seemed! I had a good month. I got back in the walking habit, and replaced my soda habit with water. I‘m looking forward to keeping it up in hopefully warmer weather. Thanks for hosting! 4y
wanderinglynn @ChasingOm Great job 🙌🏻💚 4y
wanderinglynn @Reecaspieces we all just have to be us. 😂💚👍🏻 4y
wanderinglynn @Bookwormjillk way to go 🙌🏻 It helps to have something positive to focus on. ☺️ 4y
ElizaMarie Congrats! You did great! Meditation is so much harder than I had thought it was initially! I am still working on my mindfullness/meditation and I love the journey... I am about to post my triumphs in a bit! 4y
ElizaMarie Also thanks so much for hosting and letting me be a part of this! It was fun! 4y
EadieB I've read 15/20 books and mailed out 50 books in the past 28 days. Thanks for doing this! I enjoyed participating! (edited) 4y
TheAromaofBooks While I bailed on every single one, I did at least try to read my oldest Kindle books like I want to! Lesson: I apparently didn't know how to read book blurbs in early 2016! 😂 4y
wanderinglynn @ElizaMarie thank you for joining ☺️ 4y
wanderinglynn @EadieB awesome progress! 🙌🏻 4y
wanderinglynn @TheAromaofBooks hey, you got your Kindle library cleaned up and that‘s awesome! 🙌🏻 4y
AsYouWish I would say this month was more challenging for me that I could have ever imagined (I work at a school, so this month was emotional for me.). However I did take time for me and I made great progress on my NaNoWriMo project. It gave me an outlet that I needed. Some of my other goals got pushed to the side, but I think that is okay, because I needed to process everything that was happening. 4y
wanderinglynn @AsYouWish 🙌🏻 Great job taking time for yourself. And kudos for making progress on NANo. I did not do so well on Camp NaNo, but that‘s okay. There‘s always November. 😉 4y
KathyWheeler I meditated twice last week and did yoga once. 4y
wanderinglynn @KathyWheeler way to go 🙌🏻 4y
Bookzombie I didn‘t come close to making journaling a habit, but I‘m okay with that. It‘s there if I need it. I completed 8 out of 10 books and also read a handful of novellas and short stories. Thanks for running this challenge @wanderinglynn 💗! 4y
wanderinglynn @Bookzombie the important thing is you made progress! 🙌🏻 4y

Finally finished The Fiery Cross! I have been doing a lot of audiosewing, so that helped. It‘s my #5 book completed for #BFC28 5/5! I did it! I‘m sure I will be sewing masks for at least another month, so I should get more of my audiobooks read.

wanderinglynn Way to go! 🙌🏻 4y
Andrew65 Congratulations 👏👏👏🍾🥂 Especially on finishing this massive book. 🙌 4y
GHABI4ROSES I love that you are rising to the mask task! 4y

This didn‘t work for me. Granted, I don‘t know anything about the Ozarks or the drug issues there, but this felt like a stereotypical drug novel. The descriptive language felt way over the top. And it was bizarrely short. The story didn‘t seem to have enough substance to carry it further than its brief 200 pages. Book 23/24 for #bfc28 and book 5/6 for #Easterextravanagza

BridgetteM I read this one earlier this year and felt exactly the same way! 4y

Pickpick

I don‘t love the middle books in a trilogy and this was no exception. It wasn‘t my fave and the AI-coming-to-awareness trope in YA is starting to feel overdone. But the book was good refresher on characters from the first book, kept me engaged, and the ending did a decent job setting up the final book. Book 22/24 for #bfc28 and book 4/6 for #easterextravaganza ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
