Playing catch up here as I got a new phone and can't download the Litsy app, thus using the desktop site!
Very keen to read this but it took a bit of perseverance. The characters all seemed self involved and critical of each other, hardly friendly... But I did stick with it and enjoyed the overall story.

Cathythoughts New phone ! My biggest nightmare, I hope it‘s sorted for you now 👍🏻 18h

Adele (a broke &once successful actress),Wendy (an intellectual & once acclaimed writer)&Jude (a former restaurant manager) gather at Sylvie‘s beach home to clean out the house so that Sylvie‘s daughter can sell it. Sylvies‘s death impacts their relationship in ways none of them could have anticipated. They all deal with grief, aging & other losses differently. Wonderfully relatable, beautifully written. Switching points of view is so

Anna40 skilfully done & gives the reader so much insight into the thoughts & memories of the women but is never boring or shallow. Oh & there‘s also Finn, Wendy‘s old & deaf dog. Relatable, deeply moving, funny with wonderful characters. What an amazing book. I couldn‘t put it down. This is how you write female characters in their 70s. We need more books like this one! 3d
Bklover Sounds wonderful! 3d

I really enjoyed this one! Completely different from ‘The Natural Way of Things‘ which is the only other book I‘ve read by this author. Three women who have been friends for decades, meet at Christmas, ‘not for a holiday‘ but to clean out a beach house of recently deceased friend. Brilliantly written and brutally honest. A look into growing older and how lifelong friendships develop, warts and all! Well worth reading!

I am posting one book per day from my extensive to-be-read collection. No description and providing no reason for wanting to read it, I just do. Some will be old, some will be new. Don‘t judge me - I have a lot of books. Join in if you want!

I loved Wood's previous novel The Natural Way of Things. This book's subject matter is vastly different from the first. This is about three older woman who are clearing out the house of a friend who has recently passed away. It's told from the perspective of each woman as they remember their friend and friendship and come to turns with their loss.

I did this as an audio which I enjoyed but I don't think for me it was quite as good.

It might only be 5:30 pm but I‘m pretty sure this is how my weekend ends. Hot cocoa, a good book and snuggles with the pup under a cozy blanket.

I decided to mostly read short books, which I mean under 350 pages. The top book is the shortest around 160 pages and the bottom one is the longest. In between I will be reading a few other books too for my challenges I set for myself. #tbrpile

Buechersuechtling Congratulations 🎈and happy reading‼️📚😃 – You don‘t create the impression that quarantine mentally was too hard for you. That‘s cool‼️🙌🏼 4y
La_Cori @Buechersuechtling thank you! Some days were tough, but now that is all over I'm better ? I stay mostly in the house (there are new "restrictions" here in Italy) but at least I can have a meal with my parents or visit my brother and his fiancée who live next door.. 4y
