I almost didn‘t continue with this one. It took about 10 chapters and then…wow. I love this book in ways I don‘t even understand.

1. Tagged book and Once There Were Wolves by Charlotte McConaghy
2. I don‘t mind music in the background. I can pretty much read with anything going on around me.

@THill want to play?
It‘s going to take me a while to unpack this. Or even try. For what this novel says in words there is so much more going on under and around.
I had a hard time with the audio but once I let go of that and just listened to the story I was hooked.
Reviewed as a cross between The Girl With All the Gifts and The Road how could I not like this post-apocalyptic trilogy? But 37 hours? And that‘s just book one!
Diving in…
Have you ever read a book that takes such hold of you that you‘re afraid of reading anything else by that author for fear of breaking the spell?
But I just couldn‘t resist giving this a try.

This is the first Larry McMurtry I‘ve read. Not my usual genre but here goes.
This one was almost a DNF for me. I loved Daisy Jones, liked Malibu Rising, but just couldn‘t connect with Evelyn Hugo.
Saturday book buy at my favorite local indie. It feels a little wrong to even want to read this. 🤷🏻♀️

My daughter is reading the hard copy so I thought I‘d go for audio. I‘ve enjoyed other TJR novels and looking forward to this one too.
Right here. Every emotion. I feel like I need to read this again right away so I can properly sort what I just read. Like once was not enough to get it all inside my heart.

Why have I not read this yet? It‘s excellent on audio narrated wonderfully by Yareli Arizmendi.
Oh no they didn‘t. Never fails - a Libby dump all at once. I guess I better get to it!
1. Tagged and (still) Bel Canto
2. Broken Harbor by Tana French
3. The Grownup by Gillian Flynn

It‘s been awhile since I‘ve read The Handmaid‘s Tale but I‘m going to give this a minute and to see if I can pick up where the other left off.
Oh my gosh I liked this one SO MUCH. It was fun. Dialogue is real and believable. Twists and turns? ✔️
Maybe not the best book ever and maybe not even one of Lehane‘s best, but an engaging story that will keep you turning the page.
I love Dennis Lehane‘s storytelling but I‘m not a fan of Julia Whelan as a narrator. I‘m hoping the story helps me overcome that.
Audioworking on a Saturday. Better than working on a Saturday. (It‘s the little things, right)
One of my favorite series. Just one more left of the Dublin Murder Squad. I watched this on Starz, as well and really enjoyed it-very true to the book.
What is even wrong with me? I just cannot turn down a hold I‘ve been waiting on for forever.
1. Broken Harbor and Crying in H Mart
2. still reading but Broken Harbor. I think about it when I‘m not reading it.
3. Volleyball and laundry and reading in between

Up next on audio. I‘ve liked every Lisa Jewell so far. Looking forward to this one too.
Completed January #AuthorAMonth with my first Kingsolver. I really enjoyed this. The narration was done by the author and I thought it enhanced the story. A nice historical fiction centered around family themes.

📔Broken Harbor
Hoping to finish Unsheltered traveling to a volleyball tournament tomorrow.

Saturday morning standard. Coffee. Dog. Book.

I started this today for January #AuthorAMonth. My first Barbara Kingsolver and I‘m really enjoying it so far.
@Soubhiville
The synopsis was more dramatic than the actual story but I liked this a lot and would definitely read a sequel if there was one.

Winding down on my last night in Vegas after attending a trade show. Heading back to Midwestern snowstorms and freezing temps. And work. 😐
This one hit me just right. Funny, sad, heartbreaking, hopeful. I loved every word but the story line was often hard for me to follow on audio, which didn‘t matter because, the words. Narration was a perfect reflection of the tone of the story.
I chose this based on the title alone. I am intrigued and diving in.
First book of 2022 and it was so good. Ended a little abruptly but the story was full of “aha” moments that kept things interesting.
It might only be 5:30 pm but I‘m pretty sure this is how my weekend ends. Hot cocoa, a good book and snuggles with the pup under a cozy blanket.
I had a great reading year and ended up 12 books over my goal. Looking forward to new author and genre experiences in 2022.
I know it‘s still early but I‘m pretty sure I‘ll end the day the same as I started it - dog faces and books. ❤️
