Unoffendable
Unoffendable: How Just One Change Can Make All of Life Better | Brant Hansen
11 posts | 9 read | 1 reading | 10 to read
Not entitled to get angry? Really? Its a radical, provocative idea: Were not entitled to get offended or stay angry. The idea of our own righteous anger is a myth. It is the number one problem in our societies today and, as Dallas Willard says, Christians have not been taught out of it. As it turns out, giving up our right to be offended can be one of the most freeing, healthy, simplifying, relaxing, refreshing, stress-relieving, encouraging things we can do. In Unoffendable readers will find something of immeasurable valuea concrete, practical way to live life with less stress. Theyll adjust their expectations to fit human nature and replace perpetual anger with refreshing humility and gratitude. The book offers a unique viewpoint, challenging the idea that Christians can ever harbor righteous anger or that there evenis such a thing for believers. Few other books exist with such a radical, provocative proposal to consider. We have no right to anger. We are to get rid of it, period. Completely. And it is possible to choose to be unoffendable. Through the authors winsome, humorous, and conversational style, this book doesnt add another thing to do on a stressed-out persons ever-growing list. Better, it actually seeks to lift religious burdens from readers backs and allow them to experience the joy of gratitude, perhaps for the first time, every single day of their lives.

⭐️⭐️⭐️I didn‘t have any issue with the message of this book - I almost fully agree with his premise that we can choose to be unoffendable, reacting to people‘s anger with love. The reason I didn‘t love this one is because it felt very repetitive, &there were moments that felt like Hansen didn‘t allow for healthy ways to deal with our anger, it should just be dismissed. So it was fine for what it was, but I wish it had been a bit less…or a bit more.

“Okay. So this may sound like the dumbest thing you‘ve ever read, but here goes: you can choose to be unoffendable.”

It‘s the last weekend in October! 🍁🍂 Cozied up with pumpkin spice coffee, pumpkin spice muffin, and a book my mother in law just gave me. ☺️ Have you read it or heard anything about it?

SamanthaMarie What a cozy scene. I think the premise is really needed. We get our hackles raised so quickly these days. You'll have to update with what you think.:) 3y

I did not set any sort of goal, I just read.
I read by myself, and the kids and I still enjoy reading together before bedtime.
Last year I read 54 books (13,967 pages)

So many excellent books. I started to choose my top picks for the year, but I seriously read too many superb books to give a short list! #2017 #MyYearInBooks #goodreads

I was feeling a little eh (it is the check homework, tidy the kitchen, make dinner time of the day) so I decided to take just a few minutes to read a chapter of Unoffendable. In this chapter the author shares a few phone calls and emails from listeners over his years as a radio DJ. Spectacularly hilarious. Laughing so hard I begin to choke a bit was just what I needed.
