Spectacular. Second book by Daniel Mason I've read, and I think he's just become the 'I'll try anything he's written' kind of author for me. 1/?

Such a comforting thought! 😂🤦🏼♂️
Loved this short story collection—there was only one story I didn‘t absolutely love—which takes readers from the boxing ring to Brazil, to the skies, and beyond. This is the first work by Mason I ever read but it probably most definitely won‘t be the last.
Started the Thanksgiving break with a trip to the bookstore…as you do. 🦃📖🍂
Short stories. Pulitzer finalist. Interesting, varied and somewhat strange historical fiction. For the Union Dead was my favorite.
I loved Daniel Mason‘s The Piano Tuner so I‘m curious about this #MayARC, which was released 5/5.
This is a unique, unusual, collection of short stories. It‘s quite difficult to categorise; I would say mainly historical fiction (some based around real people) with a bit of magic thrown in.
I like HF, but magical realism isn‘t really my thing but I still enjoyed all of the stories in this book.
