I‘ve read two books back to back about mothers and their motives and now I‘m getting them confused. #booknerdproblems

Came home from my after work walk and realized our lilacs are blooming. It's a beautiful day.

Not so good. Pretty much wishing I would have skipped this one. The action was so long and drawn out without much payoff. A decent enough example of the pressures of motherhood in spots but just a silly conclusion. Really doubt I‘ll remember anything about this book in a few months.

This was just really slow for me. Too many characters and things going on for me to keep track of and I just lost interest early on because it was too much. I think it just needed to be a little more clear and a stronger story.

I like books that I don't have all figured out before the author reveals everything at the end. This is a great mystery novel.

Jess turns up at the ER with her baby who has a skull fracture and her story doesn't add up. Liz is her bestie and happens to be on duty. And it escalates from there. It was hard to put down.

This is told from multiple points of view, including Jess‘s, the mother of the baby. We don‘t get a full account of what‘s happened until later in the book, with a couple of twists along the way. I‘m not a mom, but you can see how stressful parenting can be in some instances. I thought this was really good. It kept me reading and wanting to know what happened to that poor little girl.
