When Laura was 13 she witnessed the kidnapping of her best friend, Bobby. He was never found. Yet every year on her birthday, Laura receives a letter from the abductor providing her with a clue that, over the years, will lead to an inevitable confrontation…

This short but mesmerizing read felt like both a movie and an autobiography (a biopic novel🤔?). It‘s a foreboding, ominous, and tense tale that builds up to a climactic, emotional ending.🍃🍂

Creepy pen pal stories are always a bit hard to pull off. This one is solid, the letters will put you on edge. The story around the letters lacked the details necessary to land the impact. It was an almost there book for me

Knocking of some short ones before 2022. This one is a horror novella focused on a woman being stalked by the creep who disappeared her boyfriend when she was fourteen, demanding personal sacrifices for clues to the boyfriend's fate. It's dark and disturbing and recommended for readers who like this sort of thing.

vivastory Dark & disturbing? Yes, please! I've been meaning to read this for awhile 3y
swynn @vivastory Hope you like it! It's a quick one too. 3y

Wow! First of all TW for: kidnapping, assault, death and talks about a pedophile 😳 Gemma masterfully takes you on a journey with Laura over the course of 30+ years as she searches for answers and closure to a sick and twisted game she was manipulated into. Gemma approaches this topic without it being exploitive for the sake of horror. Highly recommend if you can stomach the topic.

I‘m always working the late shift but in the spring and summer my favorite part is the sunsets. I leave the garage doors open so I can watch. Went outside to get a better look to take a break from this pretty dark story. Hope everyone‘s having a safe relaxing weekend 🌻🌞

One of the books I‘ve purchased came in the mail. I adored Gemma‘s most recen book of short stories (till the score is paid) so much it‘s still my purse book (I carry it with me all the time) I know I haven‘t finished my other one yet but this is just a short story so I‘m happy to take a break.
