Heavy Vinyl: Y2K-O!
Heavy Vinyl: Y2K-O! | Carly Usdin
4 posts | 5 read
It’s 1999 and Chris is living her dream: working at Vinyl Destination by day and fighting for (musical) justice by night in the world’s coolest teen girl vigilante fight club, and playing in a band during her free time. When the girls enter a Battle of The Bands, they learn that the shadowy corporate masters of the music industry plan to destroy the fledgling world of digital music and blame it on Y2K. The critically-acclaimed team of writer Carly Usdin (The Avant-Guards) and Russ Manning Award-nominated artist Nina Vakueva (League of Legends: Ashe) reunite for a follow-up to Heavy Vinyl: Riot on The Radio.

Second book in a series that continues to be a lot of fun. It's nice to realize that the hysteria of Y2K and the threat to artist royalties that was early digital music sharing can now wear the rosy glow of nostalgia. Also: adorable first love stories for multiple characters develop, including gently touching on baby lesbian intimacy panic. 🥰

So definitely loved this one! It was a great quick little read... but is it the end?? the last panel said “The End?“ so... ugh! I need to only pick up graphic novels that are over over so I don't have to wait :) Anyway it was great!!!

MegaWhoppingCosmicBookwyrm This happens to me with all sorts of books! I almost always manage to pick up new series when I‘m not meaning to. 😅 5y

Also... I used to have one of these! I need another one! I can't remember what happened to it :( I mean yes it was 20 years ago.. but still! Do they even still sell them?

#JustAnotherGraphicMonday (I know not Monday but I like it anyway) @AkashaVampie --- who should I tag?

AkashaVampie Yes they still sell them. I believe they are smaller now. I used to watch a girl on YouTube and she is obsessed with the 90s. She had a ton of them that she bought at the toy store within the past couple of yrs. When I tag people it's usually u, @AsYouWish, and @jb72 5y
wicdiv They definitely have them on Amazon. I loved Tamagotchis so much when I was a kid. too 5y
ElizaMarie @AkashaVampie and @wicdiv !!! I have to order one now! I am looking them up now!!! 5y

Alwaysbeenaloverofbooks Omg!! I had to look closely to figure out what it was 😂😂😂 5y
ElizaMarie @Alwaysbeenaloverofbooks haha !!! I used to have one when I was younger. Well I was probably a little on the older side but.. it was something we would mindlessly play with it (we didn't have cellphones much less smart phones!) Anyway I was looking at them online now.. So many choices! 5y
Bookworm54 Always tag me in everything please! I am nosy 😋 I used to love these, but I could never keep them alive... thankfully I have kept myself alive for many years now fending for myself haha and the pup for over a year now. I still have trouble with plants though 😭 5y
ElizaMarie @Bookworm54 I‘m horrible with plants! But I have a beautiful succulent (it‘s actually 3 in one pot) and I am determined to make this my new travel buddy. Also tag me in everything too! 5y

So -- totally going to age me.. But.. I graduated High School in 99. And the whole Y2K thing was such a big deal where I was fun. I remember we did what we would do with “hurricane prep“ like the water in the bathtub thing.. and turned off all the electronics! Ha! Remember those simpler times!?
