My #audiosouping pick for today. It‘s interesting so far & I love Tori Amos but I may have needed something more peppy today. We‘ll see.
Today!s soup is a #vegan Cream of Mushroom from Isa Chandra Moskowitz - finished soup pic to come later. 🥣

I flew through this!
At its heart, this is a songwriter‘s journey through her own craft and her interactions with fans and her family. When she reads the words to her songs, they are every bit as powerful as her singing. She travels to Moscow under Putin, she listens to a judge talk about her own abusive relationship after a concert, and deals with the aftermath of her mother Mary‘s stroke, among many stories. The #audiobook is a must!
This is the chapter on Cornflake Girl, which is my favorite of her songs. Thanks for the push to pick this up @britt_brooke 💙 I‘m really enjoying it.
It‘s in the current #audible member appreciation sale. 🎧
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Personal essays and societal commentary, punctuated with relevant lyrics. Gotta go audio for this one! Amos is a phenomenal, emotional narrator. It‘s chilling to hear her song lyrics as spoken word. This is a beautifully unique take on the music memoir. It won‘t be for everyone, but was def for me, and I‘m not even super familiar with her music.
A little uneven and at times hard to follow/a little too ethereal. I wish it went more in depth with her record label struggles. Her insight into being a performer trying to release an album during 9/11 was so interesting.
