I only knew Michelle as a funny side character from a few things until I stumbled upon her netflix show loosely based off this book. I LOVED seeing her thrive as a main character!!! She's hilarious on and off the screen. Next I watched her in first wives club, then I listened to the audiobook. Most parts were hilarious but she got real and sad when talking about her infertility struggles. Love her energy and personality, hope to see more from her.

Watch the show then read this book. You'll be able to see where they take creative license but it works. But the book allows to a closer at who Michelle is.

Solid comedy memoir! Nothing groundbreaking,or revolutionary, but if you like Michelle Buteau, this won‘t be a let down!

Interesting story about her career, family, weight struggles, breast reduction, dental issues, relationship trials and successes, meeting her hubby, IVF treatments, and surrogacy. Very open, honest, heartfelt, and humorous memoir.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ I was not previously familiar with Buteau, but I‘ll 100% be watching her standup “Buteaupia” ASAP. What a funny and sharp storyteller! From her New Jersey upbringing to her foray into standup following 9/11, and much in between, we get her life and perspectives. She‘s open about infertility and the accompanying stress and heartache, so be aware if that is a topic you‘d prefer to skip. A fantastic essay collection; audio recommended!

I‘ve passed my second #owlsreadingchallenge subject!! My goal is at least 3 prompts in 10 Hogwarts subjects and I‘m finding it super fun :)

Ahhhhhh!!!! Tonight I got to see Michelle Buteau LIVE with Ilana Glazer to talk about her new book!!!!! It was everything and more. I‘m pumped to read these essays and also can‘t wait to see it turned into a tv series. So grateful to hear her in person- not only is she hilarious, she‘s such a heartfelt, motivational speaker: “Say yes to yourself!”

I did not have any doubt that I would enjoy Michelle Buteau‘s essay collection having already watched and enjoyed her Netflix stand up special and YouTube clips. I started this in print, but decided to rejoin Scribd so I could hear her read her own words. I laughed out loud as expected, but also shed a tear or two. #BookspinBingo

She just tied with Jerry Seinfeld for Best Comedy Special at the Critic‘s Choice Awards! Congrats to her!!
