Just a reminder to folks that there is a way to not see all the winter games posts. No offense to those participating, but with limited amounts of time available I don‘t need to see how many points people are collecting. Under settings, there is a section where you can mute a hashtag. I had to do it in my desktop but I imagine it‘s possible to do it on your phone.

slategreyskies Great tip! Thanks!! :) 3y
Suet624 @slategreyskies you‘re welcome! 3y
LiteraryinPA Thank you! I feel the same way so this was very helpful. 3y

Suet624 @LiteraryinLawrence I was so appreciative when they introduced this feature. 3y
Blueberry Is there a limit how many we can mute? I have about 60 on my muted list including previous years. The list won't allow me to add any more or delete any old ones either. 3y
Suet624 I‘m not sure about limits but maybe delete some of your older ones? I think your personal Litsy program might get slowed down by so many. Not sure about that though. @Blueberry (edited) 3y
Suet624 @Blueberry oh, I just saw you can‘t delete them. Well that‘s weird. Will it let you edit them? Are you using a computer or your phone? 3y
Blueberry @Suet624 tablet but I can try laptop later. 3y
Sparklemn Love this feature. Thanks for sharing! 👍 3y
ValerieAndBooks Yep, I‘ve used that feature a few times! Pretty snow. From this past week? 3y
Suet624 @ValerieAndBooks Hi there! The snow happened right after Thanksgiving. We have snow one day, warm temps the next which melt the snow, then snow, then ice. It's the season for crazy weather patterns. January usually comes in full of snow. Let's hope it happens in 2022. Despite my bitching about shoveling, I love the look of a fierce snowstorm under the streetlights and outdoor Christmas lights. 3y

This novel in verse follows singer Denver and her friend as they're taken in by a big shot in the music world. But the future is not as bright as it seems.

In a story that could have come right out of the headlines Tami Charles tells a story that is beautiful and tragic. The poetry style lends itself well to song lyrics and also hits hard when dealing with difficult topics. A tough read emotionally, but worth it.

TW: rape, abuse, imprisonment

Another ripped from the headlines story based on the R Kelly scandal told in verse. This was a more of a dramatic retelling than a unique story. I hope the next author inspired by the R Kelly scandal will write an authentic story about young black female victims of sexual abuse instead of focusing on the sensational. Unfortunately, there are far too many examples that do not involve famous people. Those stories need to be told. #blitsy

I just finished this and am reeling/at a loss for words over an unexpected turn at the end in a way I don‘t know I‘ve been in a while. Anyone else read this one? ‘cause whewwwwww. I legitimately don‘t know how I feel about the end from a purely emotional response standpoint.

𝐌𝐮𝐭𝐞𝐝 : 𝐀 𝐍𝐨𝐯𝐞𝐥 𝐈𝐧 𝐕𝐞𝐫𝐬𝐞 reads like a story ripped straight from the headlines of the R. Kelly tragedy. Much of what I read in this book took me back to the documentary 𝘚𝘶𝘳𝘷𝘪𝘷𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘙. 𝘒𝘦𝘭𝘭𝘺. (Continued in comments)

BookReviewsbyTara 𝑺𝒚𝒏𝒐𝒑𝒔𝒊𝒔:
Muted is the story of best friends Denver, Dali and Shak. Together they form a singing group with dreams of becoming superstars. When Denver and Dali‘s favorite R & B singer Sean “Mercury” Ellis comes to town for a concert, the trio stops at nothing to get Mercury to hear them sing. After accomplishing their mission, the girls begin a journey none of them could have ever imagined.

Simply put, this book is brilliantly written and very well executed👏🏽! Tami Charles did her thing as she successfully composed this entire narrative in prose. The story flows with ease. I was invested starting with the “Dear Reader” letter the authors delivers on the very first page. The letter is a powerful call to action encouraging the reader to Mute all “monsters” that prey on young, innocent women and girls.

BookReviewsbyTara The interwoven themes of - rape, feelings of isolation within one‘s family, friendship, chasing dreams, trusting your instincts, courage, mental abuse, sexual abuse, strength and power - are prominent throughout the entire book. Therefore, there is never a dull moment.

BookReviewsbyTara Engrossing from the first page to the last! Just when I thought I had the story figured out, there were plot twists that surprised the heck out of me😧!

Overall 𝐌𝐮𝐭𝐞𝐝 deserves nothing less than 5⭐️s. A riveting cautionary tale for young women, and a must read for all.

Another book I know nothing about. I don't think the cover is that great, but at the same time it has me intrigued. Plus, I am learning to appreciate novels in verse.

Bookwormjillk I‘ve never read a novel in verse in print form. I always do them on audio. I need to give it a try one of these days. 4y
LibrarianRyan @Bookwormjillk I have only done one novel in verse in audio form and it was kind of hard for me to keep track of. I loved it but ... however I would have never read it otherwise. 4y

I am posting one book per day from my extensive to-be-read collection. No description and providing no reason for wanting to read it, I just do. Some will be old, some will be new. Don‘t judge me - I have a lot of books. Join the fun if you want.
This is day 246 #bookstoread #tbrpile #bookstagram Also - just saying - I am such a SUCKER for novels in verse 💕
