I did not enjoy this book. No character had any redeeming qualities and I was left wondering what the point/purpose was overall. At first I thought Nugent‘s writing of a narcissistic mother and sibling rivalry was on point but it became unbearable as everyone was awful about everything and to each other. It sits in my donation box ready to leave my house.

Started this one on the weekend. Sarcastic, sibling rivalry is on point as is a narcissistic mother. I‘m interested to see where this is going.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️a deliciously written book about a highly dysfunctional family full of unlikeable people. But definitely sucks you in. I love the way she puts you into each of their perspectives throughout. Favorite author!

I had expected this to be more of a thriller, but instead it was a dark family drama full of unlikeable characters and the big and little cruelties they inflicted on one another. It took me some time to acclimate to the way the timeline jumped all around. The three brothers‘ perspectives on incidents in their intertwined lives was clever, but I didn‘t feel very invested. 🎧

This book was really captivating. I was expecting more of a thriller or mystery, whereas this was just a dramatic study of some truly terrible people. I couldn‘t put it down. Seeing the various events of the lives of these brothers from each of their three perspectives was so interesting. You definitely will not like any character in this! And I was so into the fact that they were all horrible in their own way.

Book about 3 brothers from a highly dysfunctional family and their stories. I like how portions of the book were written from each brothers perspective. But wow, this is one f'd up family and each brother was more screwed up than the other. A bit depressing to imagine such dysfunction. I kept waiting for some good news but it never came. For me, that is why I gave it a "so so" review as just hard to swallow at times. Even when it's fiction.

I guess I was supposed to be figuring out which one died and why as the narrative switches time periods and points of view but I was too busy shaking my head at all the drama. 😳

𝐋𝐲𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐢𝐧 𝗪𝐚𝐢𝐭 by 𝐋𝐢𝐳 𝐍𝐮𝐠𝐞𝐧𝐭 was such a delightful, twisted family saga that I had to read her next novel, 𝐋𝐢𝐭𝐭𝐥𝐞 𝐂𝐫𝐮𝐞𝐥𝐭𝐢𝐞𝐬. It features another dysfunctional family -- 3 brothers -- & someone is dead. I will finish tonight.

Two years ago, I read one of Nugent‘s earlier books & enjoyed it, so I was excited to dive into her latest- published today! It‘s a story of a fractured family- though the title is a bit misleading as the cruelties the 3 brothers inflict on one another are rarely little! And their mother isn‘t much better! Spanning decades & multiple perspectives, the pacing gets a bit bogged in repetition- but the ending is as unsettling as the terrible behavior!

Whatever you thought about Unraveling Oliver let it go. Read this with a clear mind.
With that said, this was a family drama with a sick twist at the very, and I mean very, end. It was brilliant. It was engaging. You were sucked right into the lives of these brothers. More hoping for something to happen, and Liz Nigent didn't disappoint. She smacks the reader with such a punch that you don't even see it coming!

This is family saga told over several decades in alternating chapters by each person‘s perspective. I really enjoy these types of books because it‘s interesting to see how different people view the same event. This is also a fairly gut-punch book with triggers. These folks put the fun in dysfunction (not)!
