Who killed Marcus Steen, the theatrical tycoon with a fortune to leave to his young mistress Jacqui? And who killed Bill Sweet, the shady blackmailer with a supply of compromising photographs? Charles Paris, a middle-aged actor addicted to booze and women, decides to investigate by assuming a variety of roles, among them that of the mythical Detective Sergeant McWhirter. But, as Paris is about to discover only too painfully, impersonating a police officer is never a good idea.

Panpan

Charles Paris, an alcoholic underemployed actor finds himself investigating the disappearance of his former flame‘s lover. The missing man is found dead of natural causes, but Charles‘s snooping has put him in danger. This was nearly a DNF. The 1970‘s setting and the MC‘s constant pursuit of alcoholic oblivion was frustrating. I was interested in the mystery and held on till the bitter end, but I won‘t continue the series. Didn‘t age well⭐️⭐️.

Pickpick

Found a series to start. Book 1 featuring Charles Paris. He's a old time actor who is past his prime. But he finds himself championing a would be actress who knows the famous producer she loves wouldn't break off their romance-especially since she's pregnant. So Charles is on the hunt to find her lover and get some answers, and finds more questions instead. I think the series will get better!
