I loved listening to this book and hearing Tony‘s voice. I‘m still shook he‘s not with us anymore and I wasn‘t sure how good a posthumous book could be. It was lovely to relive all his trips and memories, it made me remember special times in places we shared with him travel wise. This pic is me matching my rosé to the sunset this past weekend. I went to Niagara on the Lake with my sister and a friend, we made some great memories

JenReadsAlot Beautiful! And I still miss him too... 2y
Suet624 💕💕💕 so beautiful!! 2y
mcctrish @JenReadsAlot @Suet624 it‘s a whole other vibe to sit around and drink and watch the sun set! I could embrace that lifestyle easily 2y
JenReadsAlot Agreed!! 2y

Started this on audio while I do errands and I‘m loving that they use clips of him from his tv shows especially since I forgot this was written after he died

Just finished the chapter on #Oman @Librarybelle #ReadingAsia2021🇴🇲 I‘m actually enjoying this audio more than I expected too. It‘s an interesting mix of food, culture and history although using the Bourdain name to sell this is a little shady.

Librarybelle Glad you‘re enjoying it more than you expected! 3y
Prairiegirl_reading I agree about the shady part. 3y
Cinfhen It bothers me that it says by Anthony Bourdain @Prairiegirl_reading I mean he died in 2018 and there isn‘t anything written by him except quotes taken from his tv series 3y

Cinfhen But the content is holding my attention @Librarybelle 3y
Prairiegirl_reading @Cinfhen I was bothered by it too. Apparently the biography by Laurie Woolever is the book I actually wanted. 3y
Cinfhen I listened to that one on audio @Prairiegirl_reading it was AMAZING 🙌🏻a 5 star book!!! Really well done!!! My only gripe….we did not “hear” from Asia Argento - not sure if she declined to be interviewed or if her voice was intentionally silenced (edited) 3y
Prairiegirl_reading @Cinfhen hmmm makes you wonder 🤔 maybe she‘s writing her own book. 🤷🏻‍♀️ 3y
Cinfhen I thought that too @Prairiegirl_reading she should!!! 3y
Megabooks I‘m glad you‘re enjoying it!! 3y

Taking a break from my #MusicalMemoirs for this #ProcrastinationBook6 / I‘m using this for #ReadingAsia2021 #Oman - I‘m still missing a few cities 🤫

Megabooks I did not like this. 🤷🏻‍♀️ 3y
Cinfhen It‘s a TOTAL sell out but I‘m using it for my #ReadingAsia21 challenge @Megabooks and it‘s actually background noise while I prepare dinner & fold laundry 3y
Librarybelle At least it makes good background noise 3y
Cinfhen Absolutely!! Still haven‘t gotten to #Oman yet @Librarybelle but there was a section about #Bhutan 😁 3y

I wouldn‘t say this was “essential“ Bourdain (see Kitchen Confidential or Medium Rare for that), but I still learned some new things and it was a delight to fall back into the humor and biting voice of Bourdain‘s writing. Be aware that all quotes from Bourdain are taken from either show voiceovers or previous writings, so none of that is new. The co-writer explains in the intro that she and Bourdain were in the planning stages when he died.

Kimberlone Even better, reading this has inspired a rewatch of No Reservations! 3y
Bookishlie Currently reading this and liking it so far 3y
Bookishlie But never seen no reservations so may have to check it out! 3y
Kimberlone @Bookishlie if you are enjoying the book, then I highly recommend the show. It‘s got a real early-2000s aesthetic (especially in the earlier seasons), but it also has a certain irreverent charm that is missing a bit from his CNN show Parts Unknown (still a fantastic show but also a much higher budget and production values). 3y

“It was never my intention to be a reporter, a critic, an advocate. It was also never my intention to provide audiences with “everything” they needed to know about a place—or even a balanced or comprehensive overview. I am a storyteller. I go places, I come back. I tell you how the places made me feel.”
