I love an unreliable narrator; this book has two narrators and one has a skewed point of view. This was a good mystery with a morbid plot, very similar to Lisa Jewel‘s When She Was Gone. Book #66 in 2022

The main character was an escapee from a basement prison situation and is now trying to survive life as an adult. She tried to remain somewhat anonymous because many are obsessed with the story of her past. Regarded, just as her i prisoner is facing parole, a serial killer seems to be sending messages to her within the crime scenes.

Lies We Bury is a propulsive thriller that follows Missy Mo, who is trying to leave her haunted past behind but finds herself caught up in the hunt for a killer eerily similar to her own past. The present timeline will keep you guessing, but it's the chilling flashback chapters of her childhood in captivity with her mother and sisters that stick with you. Lies We Bury is a gripping suspense novel, but it's also a story about family and sisterhood.
