I've read several books by this author and the one I enjoyed the most was the short form book. Their long form books all suffer from the same thing - too much going on and none of it is done well.

This starts as a murder mystery and that bit was fun until the author made it stupid. As soon as the couple start coupling then the mystery is downplayed and wrapped up quickly.

⬇️

PuddleJumper It's hard to be sympathetic to characters when in a high tense, life or death situation they are thinking when they can next bonk.

The sex scenes were repetitive. There are tentacles! Not every sex scene has to be tab a into tab b.

PuddleJumper The world was really interesting. Ancient gods that had been forgotten and were sleeping, waiting for humanity to need them again. Loads of opportunities to make their culture alien and different. Instead the author goes down the heteronormative route of marriage and kids. This might be a personal gripe, I was just disappointed.

TheSpineView Great job! 13mo
willaful You might enjoy Strange Love by Ann Aguirre. Extremely creative sex scenes, because their anatomies are completely different. 😁 13mo
PuddleJumper @willaful I'll check it out, thanks! 13mo

I don‘t really know what to say. I have to appreciate the willingness of the author to just embrace tentacle sex. I‘m not sure I‘d buy another one but I‘d read another just for kicks so if there‘s a second book filled with divine cum (yeah, that‘s a thing) and a tentacock (not my word, I‘m serious), I‘d get it from Hoopla if it‘s available there. There‘s a story, just don‘t expect a lot of it. #LitsyAfterDark

So....some time ago someone writing Yuri On Ice fanfic have Viktor a penis with a pop can circumference (Girth? Width?). YOI Twitter lost it‘s collective mind. I hope none of them read this book because, apparently, this is also true for a tentacled god. #tentacleporn #LitsyAfterDark

Under 60% down and they‘ve moved past going slow to straight on becoming one with a god IN SPACE. Or the heavens. Or wherever they are. There‘s serious committed to the tentacles. They show up a lot. They cuddle, they stroke. Yup. #tentacleporn #LitsyAfterDark

@LibrarianRyan has discovered this on Hoopla! I paid for it and it‘s kind of pricey for an ebook and I‘m not sure yet if I can recommend it for $7 but through your library? Grab it!

I don‘t want to give anything away but there‘s an old god, with tentacles that work independently, in the body of a dead man. There‘s been a theft, a murder, and some sexy times. And now the god has decided to court a human. And there are clearly going to be more sexy times.

I guess this is what happens when you don‘t feel like reading for a year and suddenly you want to read. You chose #tentacleporn. #LitsyAfterDark

LibrarianRyan When you get done I really need to know if it's worth the $7 to buy it (I don't use kindle and it's $7 from iBooks). I might check some of my digital libraries, but something tells me it's probably not there. 4y
LibrarianRyan Hey everyone. It's on HOOPLA! I can not borrow it until midnight (all used up for today) but I will try. 4y
jpmcwisemorgan @LibrarianRyan I paid $7 for it and that‘s more than I usually spend on an ebook unless it‘s an author I love. I couldn‘t resist the title and it‘s one of the few books that‘s really grabbed at me in about a year so I did it. It‘s heavy on the sexier bits than I thought it might be, to be honest. 4y

The god who shows up is a trickster god - and a thief. I love thieves in my stories! There‘s lots of sexual innuendo and outright offers of sex and there are tentacles. Said god even offers our protagonist something to make his head feel better and doesn‘t tell him it‘s semen. I mean, what do you think is coming out of a tentacle?! I made it to about 30% and they‘re headed to the bedroom. That didn‘t take long! #LitsyAfterDark

There‘s old religion (think pagan) and new religion (pretty sure it‘s Christianity) in the world so I guess this is an alternate universe kind of thing. Shenanigans have ensued, a god isn‘t happy, and tentacles have shown up. I‘m 8% in. Sex was offered pre-tentacle showing so it might get started early. 😮#LitsyAfterDark

Ok, let‘s see how long it takes to become a #LitsyAfterDark entry!

Ha! I received an email about this book and it vaguely brings to mind another book that I can‘t remember the title of so I‘m looking that up (I‘ve not read yet but I feel like I own it). I feel like it might be time to revive #LitsyAfterDark!

And, yes, I bought it. How could I not with that title?

Update - the other book is Wriggle and Sparkle by Megan Derr. There are tentacles. There were tentacles in Rath & Ruin too so I‘m sensing a theme.
